There are books at your public library that will detail traditions, theme and costume dress for virtually all nationalities. Look into that.
The only traditions I am slightly familiar with for Irish weddings (I am German, not a mote of Irish blood in me) has something to do with bread and salt at the reception; and the traditional Irish wedding ring, the cladaugh. This I got out of a book at the library when I was researching my own wedding and we thought we would include Danish traditions in ours as my husband has a lot of Danish blood in him (as it turned out, we didn't include anything and it was an all-American wedding =-) ) |

We're Irish as well! My sister was married on St. Patrick's Day 2001. She and my Father walked up the aisle behind a Piper/Drummer. It was great. We didn't tell the guests before-hand, so, after the Bride's maids made their entrance to traditional wedding music the piper and drummer really made a grand entrance. The guests actually applauded once my sister reached the altar. That was the coolest!
There's a lot of online resources but try searching for Scottish Lion - they have all kinds of gift ideas/kilts, etc. Erin Go Brau! |
