Before I left from work at Universal today, I noticed Joe Cocker released a greatest hits album (the Ultimate Collection), so I went ahead and grabbed myself a copy. After I heard it once, I felt like I had been listening to it for years. I never knew Joe Cocker sang “Cry Me a River” (no Justin Timberlake didn’t cover this song – he just ripped off the title!) and “Unchain My Heart”. Anyone who listens to this album will recognize a LOT of these tracks. The songs go from ’69 to ’99, so its got music for everyone!
Theres a bunch of great guests on it too – like The Crusaders, Jimmy Cliff, Billy Preston, and many more. The stand out track has to be his cover of the Beatles song, “With A Little Help from My Friends”. You may recognize the song from the ‘The Wonder Years’. “You are so beautiful” is another song EVERYBODY is gonna recognize; this song brought back memories of a special wedding I attended a couple years ago, when my friend and his bride took the dance floor for the first time as a married couple and danced the night away, it was truly magical! A buddy of mine hooked me up with these awesome links of Joe Cockers performances from early in his career, check these out! Last edited by WS Admin : 09-22-2004 at 12:30 PM. |
