Default Alterations

Is it cheaper to get the wedding dress altered at the store you bought it from or at another alteration shop?

Hey!
I would ask for a price list from the place where you bought your dress and compare. Also, to be on the safe side, remember that your gown's store will be experienced in dealing with wedding gowns. Some shops will even dry clean them for free if you have the alterations done at the store. Hope this helps!
Smiles,
Amanda

I have found it to be cheaper to find a taylor outside from the bridal shops. I have six girls in my wedding and the majority of them needed hems. I found a lady that was willing to do them for $10.00 per hem.

Default outside

In my experience, outside is cheaper since some salons make it standard practice to deliberately order your dress a size too big, and then rip you off on the alterations. But do compare prices, and get quotes in writing. Good luck!

Thumbs down

Personally, I am getting my alterations done by the store I am buying it at, so that they are liable for anything that happens. Just make sure that it is a shop with a good reputation and everything should work out fine. I went to a shop where they tried to tell me I need a bigger size and that it would require this and that. I just went back to a shop I trusted and asked them. Go with who you trust.
