My wedding planning started out the same way! I had over 300 guests! There was no way that we were going to be able to afford it! So we sat down and got our list to under 200 guests. We are going to have a beatiful FORMAL wedding for under 2500.00! What you need to do is shop, shop, shop until you find the most perfect reception hall (that is in your budget) there is usually a banquet manager at the place that will help you with everything, free of charge. Ask her for help with everything. She will offer business cards for everything. We are not having a sit down dinner so that helps out alot with the budget. That might be something that you just can't do. Mine is at night so we decided to go with a buffet style dinner. Even during the day a buffet style is appropriate. Everyone will love the selection that you offered to them. Make sure you are able to taste the food first before making your decision on that.
Consider having the reception in a restraunt (golf course club house) to aviod any additional fees. Where you pick your reception is very critical to the rest of your budget. Find that first and then go from there. Remember that you can bargain with most people to get the price you want! Good luck.

Do you know any friends who would do the honor? I was going to order my food from Hyvee at 10.00 a person (75 people) and have friends serve it but when I asked a friend of my aunts to help she said she could cook it and serve it with help for 450.00. Ask around you may have friends or family that would love to help in that department.

with a guest list of 75 you might actually be able to pull it off. Shop around some places will do a simple meal for $10 a head. Also, if you need to cut money cut down on alcohol and such. Look for a place that maybe will let you rent and bring in your own caterer and compare to places that do both for you. Also, look around see if there are any culinary schools around sometimes they will, and they'll do trial runs with the food and stuff so you can see it is good. good luck.

Default Do it yourself

If you are lucky enough to have talented family members or other connections get them to help. My mother is making my dress, bridesmaids dresses, and the flower girls' dresses. You can make the flower arrangements yourself by buying flowers wholesale. Do the invitations yourself. Make the flower girls baskets and ring bearers pillow. The more you do yourself, the more money you will have left over for you elegant dinner. There are tons of books at the local craft store such as Michaels on how to make your own wedding things, You could even take a class on flower arrangements and calligraphy.
