Question Need help choosing bridesmaid dresses

I have picked out my dress for the wedding and yet am having a problem with choosing the bridesmaid dresses. They all agree that they will be wearing navy blue dresses. The main problem is that my bridesmaids want to wear strapless dresses and I do not want that. I have asked the gals to wear dresses with short sleeves or straps because I am also using my oldest daughter as a junior bridesmaid. My oldest has never been in a strapless dress as she is only 10 yrs old and will be 11 at the time of the wedding. My MOH has agreed to go with a dress with straps but several of the bridesmaids just want to fuss. Several of the dresses that my MOH and I have picked out are cute and I feel are appropriate for the bridesmaids. Any suggestions on how to have the bridesmaids understand where I am coming from? I really do not want to tell them that they can not be in the wedding if they do not wear a dress that I agree on but do not want to continue arguing about this either.

I know this is supposed to be my day and I want to be happy. But I also want my wedding party to feel comfortable in what they are wearing.

Have you considered wraps or shawls to accessorize? Or perhaps letting each attendant select their own dress as long as they are wearing the same color? Places like David's Bridal offer several dresses (or skirt/top options) in the same color.

There are a lot of strapless dresses out there that come with detachable spaghetti straps. You could have those that want the straps wear them, and those that dont not. Many times a junior bridesmaid dress that matches a strapless bridesmaid dress comes with straps because a jr bridesmaid typically doesn't have the necessary "stuff" to keep a strapless dress up
Its extremely common and quite acceptable to have a younger bridesmaid wear straps when others don't.

nle,

My cousin had that same problem and what she did was all the juniors had dresses with sleeves/straps and the bridesmades had strapless. you may want to look into that.
