There are no younger girls in either of our families and we don't want to randomly pick someone we don't really know just to have a flower girl. Has anyone had this problem and does anyone think that it would be appropriate not to have a flower girl for these reasons. Also There are about 10 little boys all of the same age in our families, so we may not have a ring bearer either so that some parents don't get upset. I'm not sure what to do.

Some say that the tradition of children in weddings comes from the Victorian era when more was considered better.
Depending on the ages and number of children you want to have participate in your wedding, children can be a part of the celebration in many ways. They can be flower girls, ring bearers, train bearers, candle lighters, readers, guest book attendants and pass out programs. With the exception of flower girl, all of these positions may be filled by either girls or boys. It would be perfectly OK to have the boys participates and not have a flower girl. |

why not have a ring bearer and a 'flower boy', im going to be in my sisters wedding as a bridesmaid. you dont have to make the boy wear a dress unless you or he wants to , but there can still be 2 boys walk down behind or in front of you

What I have seen at different weddings when there are no children involved is the Matron of Honor and the Best Man hold the rings until before the vows are exchanged. Your MoH will be up at the front and always fixing your dress when you move so why can't both MoH and BM step forward to pass you both the rings. By doing so you will not have to worry about which boy to pick and parents having hurt feelings etc. Hope this helps!

i have seen people have 2 ring bearers(each holding one ring) rather than a flower girl and ring bearer...ive also seen 2 flower girls. but, with so many boys to choose from, i would suggest not having one at all, or you could choose the 1 or 2 that you are closest to. i know its hard not to worry about the parents feelings, but it is YOUR day and your choice. good luck and congrats!!!

If you still want the flower petals on the aisle, I have seen it done where the petals were down before the guests arrived, just a few down the center and more towards the sides of the aisle.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I'm still not sure who we are going to choose for our ring bearer. Because all of the little boys are on my future inlaws side, I think I'm going to ask by finace's mother and father who they think we should choose. They might know who would work out the best plus that doesn't put me in the middle of the whole ordeal of choosing one over the other. I think that they would be able to make the decision better than I anyway. Thanks everyone.
