Default Group Dancing/Greek Festival????

so here's my question, which i'm not really sure how to ask. my dad has this vision for the dancing at the reception to be more group oriented rather than couples oriented, and he definitely wants a live band. he wants to make everyone feel included and more comfortable with the idea of dancing. he's explained it to me like a "greek festival." we're not greek at all, but i think i kind of get his idea, and i'm cool with it. i think it will span the ages and backgrounds of our guests better than way, but i have no idea where to find a band that can accomodate that and someone to lead the dances so the guests kind of know what's going on. the wedding will be in Washington State in April and any suggestions of places to look or tips would be great! thanks for the help.

Default Group Dancing

The idea of wanting to make sure everyone joins in the fun is what makes dances like the Hokey Pokey, the Chicken Dance & the Conga Line popular at weddings.

I understand your Dad wanting everyone to have fun and join in. While the bride & groom now have permanent partners, not everyone at the wedding will be part of a couple. Often being single at a wedding can be really boring, and singles spend way too much time at the bar.

Consider having a girls only and boys only dances to songs like Chorus Line or New York New or Here's to the Girls or The Truth About Men.

Or even an individual dance contest.
