Default White or Ivory??? Please Help!!!

I am having an October wedding with a very big Fall theme!!! i don't have specific colors picked out yet, there will be lotts of browns and golds and rust colors. i was thinking that an Ivory dress would be more appropriate. my FH wantes to wear a white tux(he doesn't know that i am looking at getting an Ivory dress yet.) if i do like the Ivory better is it ok for him to wear an Ivory tux??? He is pretty much stuck on not wearing Black. i don't think he would mind whether it was white or ivory, but would it look ok???

whatever you decide to do, make sure you and him wear the same color(unless he decides black is okay)...but if he wont wear black, and you wear evory he wears ivory...if you wear white, he wears white. I ran into the same type of problem-a dress i really liked only ***e in ivory and my FH wanted a white tux...the lady at the bridal shop said that if he wore white and I wore ivory, it would make me look "dirty" in pictures. Thank goodness i found a dress that was almost exactly like the one i was looking at that ***e in white, and more appropriate for an outdoor wedding(doesnt have a train). good luck to you and whatever you decide, and congrats!!!

That was what I was told at the tux shop too. All I had wanted was them to wear white shirts and I would have an ivory dress. But all the ivory at the tux shop looks yellowed and i don't care what color you put it with it all looks yellowed to me.

Ivory tuxes look great.
You could even do ivory jackets with black pants. That's sharp too.

If I'm wearing an ivory dress, and the groom is wearing a black tux, what color shirt should he and the groomsmen wear? White? Ivory?
I thought about going a little less "monkey suit" as my pop calls it, and going with a wine shirt under the tux jacket and no vest with a thin black tie - so it would be more like a suit - I thought it would look sharp - I'm not sure if I can rent a "tux" like that though. I guess I could buy the shirts for the guys - maybe Marshall fields will have something in the correct color. Ugh this is getting to be a bit hmm. hectic with the whole ivory dress thing - but it doesn't come in white/wine, only ivory/wine.
I wonder how that would look with the colored shirts and black tie vs a white shirt with colored vest/tie.....I think the guys might be more comfortable.
Any thoughts?

You can rent any kind of tux you want. I would say that if you were going the ivory route, definitely go with an ivory shirt, or the color. YOu could actually give your groomsman the option of renting a tux or buying a suit. That is becoming more and more common placed now as well.
Or if your tuxedo shop doesn't offer the styles that you want, rent a simple, classic tux, and go to Men's Wearhouse or a place like that and pick up the shirts that you want to go under them with the black tie.

That's what I was thinking - get a shirt that matches the wine color perfectly and then have them wear black ties - The only problem this poses is for the ring bearers - I would like them to be uniform, but if they can't be, then they can wear ivory shirts - I know I can find those for the boys. Its really hard to envision how this will all look since I've never seen anything like it before - every wedding I've been to that's been even semi-formal has had the traditional tux. I think the guys will look really nice in the shirts - though - will probably be easier on them when they want to take their jackets off too - the vests never look right without the jackets in my opinion :P
Anyway, I think that's what I might do - I'll have to check further with the tux shop.

Okay, my whole Ivory complex is done away with! They offer my gown in White/Wine now! Woohoo!!!! I might still go with the colored shirts though, but I realized that with having an ivory gown, my bridesmaids dresses had white in them and that would cause a problem - well, not anymore! Yay!
