Red face Help with colors

I need some help choosing my colors. The dress that I have chosen has a wine color in it and the dress is also Ivory. I am having a really hard time matching the wine color for bridesmaids dresses. Would it be okay if I did a color that had the same tone but a bit lighter or should I go with something completely different for my bridesmaids, if so what? I have always wanted to use this color and it wouldn't be that big of a deal becuase I find things that are close but don't match the actual color in my dress.

This is my dress http://www.bonny.com/bonny/243.html
Please Help

A beautiful color you can use to match your dress, but would be a completely different color would be champange. Your bridesmaids can wear champange colored dresses and their flowers could match your accent color. Plus, champange is a really hot color for bridesmaids right now, (even some brides wear that color).

I think a slightly lighter tone would work well. Or you may be able to find a color really close to that one.

Try www.alfredangelo.com That is where I got my bridesmaids' dresses from and they have a huge color selection. For instance, I just looked at a dress that had at least 15 choices in pinks/reds/wine colors.

Good luck! I hope that helps!

my friend had a dress similar to yours and she went with wine color dresses for the bridemaids.

Welcome to the bonny club.. hehehe... I'm getting that dress in white and lavander. We are getting the bm dresses from Alfred Andgelo 'cuz their colors match almost exact. Their lavander is beautiful. You can have burgandy or navy or hunter dresses. Or you could get like dusty mauve or rose. You could get a bm dress that are two different colors or one color with a ribbon in the middle. Check out www.alfredoangelo.com and see what they have.

Default I have the same dress

I had a hard time matching exactly too, but the berry color from BariJay and the cranberry (satin) or claret (chiffon) color from Allure Bridals match. I ended up getting Allure 1009 in cranberry for my bridesmaids. Also, I had a hard time with the tuxes and vests. Savvi Formalwear Virgo by After Six in Claret matches the closest. Good luck!

I am a florist. For a bridal bouquet, it is always a good idea to use different shades of what ever color you are using. There is two purpose for this. One is if you have different shades, then it will match with the dresses better. Aslo your bouquets and table centerpieces set the stage for the colors of the reception. If you have different shades, then you are not limited to one shade. Which will make decorating more easier.
You will then find it easier to match your paper products, (Napkins, table cloths, decorations ect...) if you use different shades. It is also a good idea to add different colors in your bouquets and centerpieces. Then you will have more of a selection for your reception decorations. The more color and shades you have, the more flexable your decoration colors can be.

What I tell people who are not sure about color is to go to your local paint department. Match your colors by the paint card samples, then see what colors look good with your color. Choose different shades of that color and contrast colors.

If you are using a wine color, then use different shades of wine (from light wine to a burgandy color). Hints of pink/mauve also looks well with wine. Contrast it with a soft white or cream/ivory color. Hints of smoky grey or navy blue also looks well with wine.
