I was wondering if anyone could give me a suggestion on what kind of veil to get. My dress has a v in the back that ends just below the shoulder blades and a bow where the skirt meets the bodice. I was thinking a single layer finger tip. Anyone with any suggestions? I'll try to instert a link to the dress. http://www.bonny.com/bonny/243.html

It seeam a shame to cover up much of the back of that dress.
The model is wearing an elegant tiara. It just goes with the dress. Why not consider the same. In lieu of a veil,, maybe a detachable back piece veil that extends just above the V would look nice. |

I think it would look kind of funny to end the veil above the line of the back. I would suggest a single, unadorned layer of net with no edge that falls just below the V. It will make the back decoration a bit less clearly visible, but it won't hide it completely or break it up jarringly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't planning on the veil, but my mother wants it. I was thinking that it should be long and end under the bow. I 'm not sure how it would look to cut the eye off with the line of the veil between the v and the bow. I'm pretty sure it won't have anything on it, but I was thinking about the thin satin corded edge. I have a feeling that this is gonna be the hardest piece to pick. But how many layers should it be? I was thinking just one.
I"m still hopeing for more help...Thanks everybody. |

Depending on your build, perhaps a single layer waltz length with a hand-rolled edge. Do you have a train on your dress? Maybe even a chapel or cathedral length would look good in a single sheer layer.

I have the exact same dress!! I was also wondering what do do for a veil because I jsut don't think that it would look okay from the back to have a veil. Although when I tried on the dress they had a veil that had the wine color that is in the dress on the outside of it, I thought that looked okay..But I just think the back is so gorgeous so why would I want to cover that with a veil?

Was the veil with the trim the one made by Bonny? I really like that one, but the lady at the bridal shoppe told me that would be too much with what was on the back of my dress. Did the colored trim cut off where you looked? Like it created a line that was distracting. That's why I made this post. I just don't know.

I am not sure if it was made by bonny, it was just a little bit of color around the outside of the veil, just enough to complement the dress. I don't htink it created a line that was distracting, I guess I wasn't paing good enough attention because I didn't even plan on buying a veil that day and the lady just through it on me...but I don't think it looked bad

You know I think I might just make one and leave it plain. That way if I don't like it I'll be out like $10 or less. Regular tulle is only 77 cents a yard and a sparkle one is $1 a yard at Wal-Mart. And a 4 inch comb can't be that expensive. There are instructions on Michaels.com on how to make one. It'll be easy. And I can always start with it long and cut it down with out destroying a $60 veil.

I think that a single layer veil would be pretty with it.. maybe not go any longer then where the back of the dress starts. The dress is too beautiful to cover up with a veil. Have you talked to your mom and explain to her that the dress you have chose looks really beautiful and elegant with a tiara only? I think if you were to show her and prove to her that a veil looks a little funny that she'll agree not to wear one. I think making it is a good idea.. you wont be spending much and if it doesn't look good with the dress, you don't have to wear it.
