Default How to choose pearl necklaces for your wedding day?

Pearl Jewelry are considered classic wedding jewelry. Then how to choose a perfect pearl necklace? Here are some tips:

There are four types of pearls in the market: freshwater pearls, akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls and South Sea pearls. Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea pearls are all saltwater pearls that grow in ocean water. They are more valuable than freshwater pearls for their rareness and high luster.

Akoya pearls are the most popular type among four types of pearls. Akoya pearls are highly appraised for their rich color, mirror like finishing and appealing roundness.

Like any other gemstones, the value of pearls is determined by how good quality the pearls are. Pearls have several qualities: A, AA, AA+, AAA, AAA+. AAA and AAA+ pearls have the best quality and they are most valuable. For the same size pearls, ‘A’ quality pearl necklace costs only a small fraction of AAA quality pearl necklace. When shop for pearls, be sure to buy pearls from these places that grade pearls carefully and provide detailed information on pearl luster and surface blemishes; be sure not to buy pearls from a place that doesn’t give any information on pearl quality.

Pearls have six criteria for determining their quality and value: luster, nacre, surface, color, shape, size and matching. The educated buyer decides which of these criteria are most important.

Expert advice on pearl jewelry, pearl necklaces, and cultured pearls.
