The night before the wedding

I'm getting married on Sept. 4th. My fiancee and I are planning on going our seperate ways the night before. I am taking our daughter to my mothers house and he is keeping our son at home for some one on one male bonding (4 yr old). My mother and I are very close and have not been able to spend some one on one time with each other in a while. We have pedicures scheduled that evening. What I would like to know is if anyone has any good idea's of what we should do that evening. I would love to plan something special, besides the pedicures, but I can't think of anything. We are very spiritual, so I'm thinking of bringing her to get her cards read or something. Any ideas?

I'm getting married Oct. 23, 2004. My mother died 5 years ago from cancer, she was my best friend and I really miss her!!! When I read your message I thought to myself, what would I have liked to do if mamman (she was french) were alive. You could go to a nice quiet place to have dinner. Or order in and watch a great chick flick. If you like sports is there some game you could attend? If your daughter is going to be with you the order in thing and movie would probably be better. Gather in the room with the tv, have snacks and drinks (alcoholic or non), turn the lights off and relax w/candlelight as you watch your movie. Either way just being together on such a special night and being able to talk and laugh is special when you realize some aren't able to have even that special time. I don't write this for you to feel sorry for me, I just want you to realize what you do have, something very easy to forget until you don't have it!!

I can kinda of relate to both stories. Two years ago I ***e dangerously close to losing my mother. She spent nearly four months in ICU, in 2002. Some people never realize how much their mother means to them, until something bad happens. Thankfully, she recovered before I had to return to my duty station. I am getting married in October of 2005.
I know that sometimes we all think that we have to do something special with our moms before this big day. But what we don't realize, is that moms are just happy to spend the day together just talking or watching a movie. So would have to agree. Order in, get some ice cream, and a couple good movies...and enjoy each others company. It's the best gift you could give her on this night.
