My daughter is getting married in Oct. at 3 o'clock the reception is starting at 4:30. I purchased a beautiful long black gown and now am worried that it's not appropriate because of the time of the ceremony. It's not possible for me to change in-between the ceremony and the reception. I need some advise.

I would ask your daughter what she thinks. If she is fine with you wearing your new beautiful black dress then there is nothing to worry about. Otherwise, depending on how much you spent on it, you may want to return it and choose a new dress. Do you really want to only wear the dress for and hour? But before you make a move, I would ask your daughter.

I agree that you should ask your daughter if she is ok with it. If she's ok with your new black dress, but you still want to make sure everyone knows you aren't mourning her wedding, try dressing it up with a brightly colored jacket, or other accent piece.
