My fiance' is determined to wear a grey tux. We're getting married in September of next year. What color can the bridesmaids wear? I was wanting them to wear wine but I don't know if that would look right.

I'm gonna say that wine will be too dark in contrast the grey. I would say that you need a lighter color. Have you looked to see if there is a lighter color of what you would like. Other wise I would suggest compromising in some way... like... having color dress that would be accented with wine trim or beading... or your flowers and decorations could be wine.... or see if you can convince the groom to wear black but have a silver/grey vest & tie. Search the net and see if you can find any pictures of the wine with a grey tux...or go to a bridal shop and ask them if you can compare it and see what they say. They have color coordianted a millon people... I will tell you that I have already had to compromise. Our bridesmaids will be wearing a light lavander and I really wanted grey tuxes... unfortunately no one else feels that way... so we have tentatively decided on black with a sliver/grey vest of some sort. Compromise is what it's all about!!!!

Thank you, I ended up asking a consultant and she said she thinks that it will be beautiful and by the dresses being a dark wine that my dress will "pop".

Our wedding is next spring and I have fallen in love with an Ivory Dress...
Heres the problem... My niece is going to be our flower girl and she was recently in a wedding and has a really pretty WHITE flower girl dress that my sister wants to reuse. Can I have the IVORY dress I dream of and let her wear the white flower girl dress that would in turn save on cost?? ![]() I don't want it to look silly with both colors! |

Did you consider dyeing the flower girl's dress? If it is white, it should be really easy. You could either match your bridesmaids' dresses or try a similar complementary color. I am pretty sure that you can have this professionally done at a dress shop or drycleaners, but if you really want to save, you can buy that RIT dye at grocery stores or pharmacies like Walgreens. I am not very crafty, but I have dyed my clothing with this easy to use dye and it turned out great. good luck.

Just an FYI, I talked to a lady at the tux shop about having white shirts with an ivory dress and she said that even the little bit of white would make my dress look dirty. So don't forget all the pictures you will take with the flower girl and you may want to reconsider the color of her dress... or yours.

I don't know why people don't think grey and wine work together... They absolutely POP next to each other. They are a beautiful and elegant combination! The only thing to check would be that the grey is dark enough or the wine light enough (a very pale grey would not look right with wine, but a more ash grey would look exquisite)
