dj or live band?

a lot of dj's that i know dont have very many good music playing during the reception. i dont want something that is too costly but does anyone know of a live band or dj that plays good and sometimes modern music for a decent price?

Hey, I'm in So Cal too. I don't know if this interests you, but I had a band with some steel drums in it. I think it was a 5 piece band with steel drums playing the melodies and harmonies. It was really beautiful for the slow songs and rocked for the fast ones. I found them at www.andproductions.com.

Oh yeah, and a couple DJ's I quoted were gonna cost me like $1200- $1400 and they were about that much.
