isle march song

I plan on writing and composing the song for my bride as she walks down the isle. Does anyone have any ideas on how long it should be? 2 min, 3 min, 5 min? I'm trying to visualize the walk. It's not a long isle. Probably 35 feet.

Thoughts, suggestions, warnings...???

Is it just for the bride, or will the entire bridal party come down to it? You might want to ask the church or location if they know a time. Or you could go and try to pace it off for yourself. If you have a demo you could listen to it and walk it off. I think it's really sweet that you are going to write for her. I hope it works out.

Just write it! Advice from a professional wedding musician : If it is performed live, then any half-decent musician should have no trouble assessing where the procession is when s/he is reaching the end of the song, and be able to cut it short, or repeat a section and/or ad lib, to make it the required length! If a recording is played, then it can be faded after the required amount of time. From the weddings I've done, if it is only going to be played while the bride walks down and not the rest of the party, and the aisle is about 35' long, then at most you will use 45 seconds. It's a really sweet idea...good luck!
