You don't have to buy anything expensive. No one will know, unless you tell them. I went to a wedding two weeks ago and the bride found a beautiful tiara at Claire's. There are other stores that sell inexpensive jewerly that will carry tiaras. Good Luck!

Mine was hot-glued together from a beaded cap from a craft store ($6), and some netting remnants, also from the craft store. It turned out absolutely gorgeous. If you are not as good with a glue gun as my mother is :) , maybe there is someone you know that would be willing to make one for you. Good luck!

Honesty, I bought some wire and pearls and various beads at Michaels and Walmart and am having a blast trying various combinations. I don't relly want a tiara though. I like bun wraps, but I haven't decided how i'm wearing my hair. I started my bun wrap using the patten off of Micheals for a headband. So far evryting that i've shown people they've loved. Have you looked at places like Handcock Fabrics, if you have them in your area, or Walmart. both places recently reset their modulars and got new items in. Walmart, at least ours, is now also special ordering Wilton products. Otherwise, have you looked at Marylyn's Keepsakes? they didn't seem to expensive. I guess it depends on what you want. I will share that my future mother in law found the tiara that my future sister in law wanted from Davids, where it cost $120, on ebay for $20.

Wish I had read this a month ago. I bought a $150 tiara from David's bridal. Because of that I'm having to borrow my best friends vail because I couldn't spend another $200 on that. Its a beautiful tiara, but honestly, I saw one at walmart the other day that didn't look much different. Ugh!

My fiancee got lucky. Some old lady was throwing her vail out and she gave it to my fiancee. Its worth quite a bit too. Some people just get lucky with some stuff but in the case of my fiancee her dress cost almost 500 bucks. I heard that was pretty cheap for a wedding dress compared to most prices. I don't know alot about wedding dresses but I do know that if a vail is nearly 40 percent the cost of what my fiancees dress cost, then that is too much to pay. There is no shame in going to walmart if you need to save money. My fiancee and I both believe that if you can have a nice wedding but save alot of money in the process, then you are better off in the long run. I am of course the groom. Davids Bridal isn't cheap and niether is the same chain their corporation owns. After Hours Tuxedos. I felt like I was in a car dealership when I went into that store. They were trying to sell me something that I was just going to rent. Anyway. Thats off subject but just wanted to say good luck with the tiara thing. Prepping for a wedding is a good chance to REALLY get to know your other half. I am helping her in the planning of the wedding but she still is pulling her hair out. She is gonna look like G.I. Jane by our wedding day.

LOL...yes I think my fiance has seen a slightly new side of me too. Our wedding is in 6 weeks and we just really got to planning a few weeks ago. He's military and away in training so he's not able to help me out much...I'm either calling him all excited about something, or calling him to vent because I'm about to pull my hair out too! Sounds like your fiance lucked out w/ the vail, I think I am going to borrow my sisters. Anything to save some money! Well, I hope your fiance doesn't rip ALL her hair out....otherwise she'll be buying a wig too! Good luck to you both!!

BElieve it or not, there's a place on the Internet called TiaraTown. There are absolutely beautiful tiaras there. Got my daughter's through E-Bay, from a seller named "allthatglitterz". It is breathtaking, and I paid a tiny fraction of the prices we saw at David's Bridal. Dumb me thought the tiara was a part of the veil price -- boy was I surprised!
In all seriousness though, check out e-bay and the seller "allthatglitterz". I had wonderful service, very fast shipping and the best quality of crystal tiaras that I have ever seen.

I too am an eBay fanatic! I am bidding on mine now. The bid is up to 83 cents. And if I don't like how it goes with my dress, then that's just 83 cents I spent to try something. Hope you find one that you just love! Amber

I know exactly how you feel about David's Bridal asking outragous prices for their tiaras and veils. I got my dress at David's Bridal and decided to have my veil made by my neighbor. My uncle will then do all the bead work on the veil to match the wedding dress. Now I am looking for a tiara but found some at one of the rental places here in town that they sale. The average price for a tiara there is between $20 - $30. That sure beats the price David's Bridal was asking. For the veil and tiara through David's Bridal it was going to run almost another $350. But with me having the veil made and getting a tiara I will be spending close to $75.

DEFINITELY check on EBAY!!!! I found one for $17 including S&H. I saw the same exact one for $215 in a bridal store. I have decided every girl should own a beautiful tiara! When I have had a bad day, my Honey gets my tiara and puts it on my head to cheer me up...LOL

I got mine on ebay for less than $30. Also, Michaels (arts & crafts stores) sells them in their wedding section.
