I want your suggestions!!

Hello all! I'm writing to see what your creative minds can come up with... My bridesmaids dresses ***e with shawls and I'm not going to have them use them. I was trying to think of things to do with the fabric and just thought i'd see what you all thought. I've been told to use them as table runners, but i don't think they are long enough and I dont want them to look tacky being too short. I've also been told to take the fabric and make pillows out of them and get the girls names embroidered on them, as a keepsake item. I think they are both good ideas but I'm still open for suggestions! Your opinions/thoughts/comments are welcome! Thanks! :)

I like the idea of making them a keepsake from the material. You could make a cute purse from it and put stuff in it as their attendant gift. Depending on the material, you could make hankies for their tears on the day of your wedding. Well, more likely just a keepsake but if they do cry, they'll have it.

I think it's a cute idea to make pillows out of them and have their names embroidered on them. Are you sure the girls don't want to keep the shawls just to keep?

I'm pretty sure - I told them when we ordered the dresses that I wasn't going to have them wear them. The wedding is in September so they won't really need them for cold weather, and I've seen bridesmaids keep them on during the ceremony and they were pulling and fixing the shawls every 5 minutes because they kept falling off their shoulders - it was awful, i felt so bad for the bride because her bridesmaids werent focused on the couple at all! :( I'm sure they won't mind giving up the shawls. I've also thought about making bows for the ends of the pews out of them. I have so many ideas and I don't know what I want to do yet... thanks for the suggestions though and keep them coming if you have more!!

A shawl doesn't nesecarily have to cover the shoulders. I made one that I wore to a Christmas party and I wore it at my elbows. I do like the idea of doing pew bows. If you know someone you could make a ribbon like out of them, you could use them to tie your bouquets if you are doing handtied look.
