Help! I am SO close to my budget and we really can't afford to go over it. There will be about 100 guests and just a couple hundred dollars left. What can I do for favors that will be classy and unique, but that won't cost an arm and a leg? I have about two months left before the wedding (August 16) and my bridesmaids and I are willing to put some effort into this.
Thanks in advance!

Molly,
I was in your same situation 3 years ago! My advice... try to think about your "theme" or something special between you and your groom... coffee together in the morning, a beach you've been to...something special... then share THAT with your guests! Make it something they can use or else you have spent a couple hundred dollars that people will throw away! ME? I got married at the beach, so I had dark chocolate seashells placed on each plate. Very simple, but everybody RAVED about them! I have also been to weddings with coffee beans in a pouch with the tag to read "a (his name)(your name) blend", or a pouch of jelly bellies in the theme colors.
Good Luck!

ITS OK IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR FAVORS THINK OF SOME THING THAT WILL NOT COST TO MUCH AND GO WITH THAT OR YOU CAN JUST MAKE SOME UP OR MAKE SOME FROM SCATCH IT DOES NOT REALLY MATTER. JUST AS LONG YOU AND YOUR FUTURE HUSBAND ARE VERY,VERY HAPPY.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR WEDDING!!!

I chose the Hershey's kisses wrapped in tulle w/coordinating colors for the ribbon as my favors. We were on a budget so tight that it made my head spin. My guests loved them and my aunt who is a caterer, used the same idea for a wedding she catered at the River Oaks Garden Club.

Look into small photoframes that can double as placecards and favors, looks very elegant and you can shop around for a decent price.

I did white and dark chocolate suckers for the favors at my wedding. I bought heart shaped molds from a craft store like Michaels or AC Moore. I only bought 3 molds, each containing 4 sucker slots. And also buy the sucker sticks there. This will be about $10 for your amount of guests. Then go to a grocery store and buy bricks of white and dark chocolate. They are less expensive from the grocery store. I actually found the best price at Walmart Super Center. I think I bought 3 bricks of each chocolate coming to about $15. You can swirl the 2 chocolates together in the mold and it looks really pretty. It is very time consuming to make the suckers because you have to melt the chocolate and then let them cool for a few minutes until you can reuse the molds. But I made 200 and I finished them in 1 day. I put each sucker in a clear bag and made labels on my computer to put on the them and then tied them with a pretty white bow. I just placed them in a couple of baskets outside the reception for guests to take as they left and it turned out great.

Hi Molly...I'm all about romance so we're doing candles I got off of ebay...I saw something really cute in a magazine recently...and it wouldn't be at all expensive...go to a discount store and get votive candles...go to a cool paper store and buy some really pretty handmade paper in one of the colors of your wedding...one or two big sheets is all you'll need, and go to a craft store and find some natural raffia...you simply cut the pretty paper in strips large enough to wrap the candle and then fasten it with the raffia...if you wanted you could get a rubber stamp with your inititals but I thought it looked cool just plain...with our candles, I'm going to leave a note thanking them for coming and asking them to say a prayer for our marriage when they light the candle. Good luck!!

We are creating CD's of al of the music we are using at the wedding and the reception. We have such a great mix of music that once we started talking about it everyone wanted CD's. I bought the CD's at Walmart ($9.99 for 50, 2 packs) and the labels through my office supply store at work ($25 for 100 labels) and the jewel cases through there as well ($40 for 100). I only have a CD burner at work so I have been staying late most days creating 5-10 a day. We are also doing candles wrapped in tulle. I bought 100 of the Yankee Candle scent Wedding Day from a store going out of business ($20, I was really jazzed about this) and tulle circles I bought on EBay for $7.00. We havent decided how we are going to hand these out or set them out. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am ordering bookmark favors for my guest from the Jamie Lee Collection. There is a small verse thanking your guest for showing up and helping you and your soon to be hubby celebrate and the cost for 100 is only 46.90 plus shipping charges. Plus a bookmark is something that even a non-book reader can use.

My fiance and I are burning our wedding music onto CD's. Blank CD's are inexpensive and if you have a burner, you are good to go!!

I order these clear boxes, some floating rose candles and some ribon and heat beads and put the rose candles in these clear boxes with ribon, glueed the beads around the base of the boxe and toied the top with a ribon a small card that just said thank you. I ordered it all off of ebay for less than 200 dollars and we had over 200 people at our wedding. They went off really well and were really elegant wedding. I don't remember who I used but you can find all kind of thinks online

m&m's come in different colors. if you have a color theme, you can get a bunch of them and give them out as favors...

You can special order M&M's in virtually any color. If it is a Christmas or Valentine or July 4th wedding, they already come in the stores in special colors.
Hershey kisses also come in seasonal colored foil.
We bought Baker's mint chocolates from the factory near Omaha, and tied tow in hunter green tulle circles tied with gold ribbon. I think it cost about $36 for the chocolates, 49 cents a yard for the tulle and $.99 for a roll of the ribbon. Thus those favors cost about $40 for 200 people.
We also had little gold bells people rang as we exited the church (since we couldn't have rice or anything). Those were $6.99 per 24 and we bought too many...they were tied with hunter green ribbon with a little saying I typed on the computer.
I've seen so many cute, darling and downright precious favor ideas I was mad for a long time but when $$$ are of the essence, you do what you can. People aren't coming to the wedding for the cuteness or originality of the favors, after all...I figure we "favored" our 180 guests TWICE for less than $100 so that's ok... :p

We are having small Muskoka chairs with their names painted on. They were only $1.99 each. We only have 86 people coming so they end up being really cheap.
