I know there have been other postings regarding favors, but I am looking for some affordable favors. I am looking for something different (not the typical bags filled with dinner mints), but less than .99 per favor. Because my FH's parents are very religious, we cannot do something 'drinking' related (shot glasses, etc.). I need some suggestions - can anyone help?

What about candy or mints or something? I'm doing little chocolates and it's turning out to be pretty cheap.

What about not doing favours and giving the money you would have spent to a charity, or your church or something? But then do up a note for your guests, saying "In Lieu of Favours, we have donated $$$ (such and such) amount to Blah-Blah charity." I like this idea for people who don't know what to do, especially cause if you don't have something meaningful to you or to go with your wedding and enhance your theme, then it just ends up being a last minute thing. People will just throw them in a drawer and not look at them again. So I like this idea.

Check out this thread I did. You could do something similar. I'm doing my favors for about 250-300 people for less than $50! I'll put Hershey Kisses in them when I'm done.

How about this..... It takes Tulle circles .. ribbon... plastic spoons... and little tags..hersey kisses

Make the tags (easily made with cardstock..scissors and a hole punch.. just design the shape you want and then use that as a template for the others so they will be the same size) punch a hole in the top side etc... and have the tags say(printed on the computer or handwritten "A spoon full of kisses from the Mr. & Mrs." then you could have your names and date on it as well.

I also adore the matchbox mint idea! So cute and could be customized to fit any wedding. with a creative saying and a cute stamp or clipart.
These are super cheap and can be really cute and can be dressed up in any way.

Take About 2 hersey kisses.. put them in the plastic spoon.. wrap the tulle around them

I made those as my favors. I used blank business cards for the tags. Print your meesage twice on each card and then cut in half. The only difference in mine was that I used tulle by the yard and cut it into squares. White tulle tied with red ribbon. I think they look great.

Have you considered making cookies and decorating them yourself? Cookie cutters are pretty inexpensive and it doesn't cost much to make the dough and frosting. Once the cookies are frosted, you can place them in a cellophane bag and seal it with a ribbon.

My wedding favors are a little more expensive ($1.50 each), but are definitely unique. I like frogs. I call my FH my prince and and since he's so silly, I figured frogs would be perfect. My cake topper is a frog bride and groom (silly of course). Also, my color scheme includes light green. I found pewter figurines of "good luck" frogs. How perfect. Anyway, during my search, I found that oriental trading (www.orientaltrading.com) had the best prices for favors. Most of everything on their site is sold by the dozen or unit, so you really do get great prices. One thing I found on that site was rose candles, with bamboo stems. They would be really "romantic" layed across each place setting and you could add your own touch with a fancy handmade tag tied to the stem. They come in red and white. Another bonus...they're only $.50 each. Also, they had mints, rose suckers, wedding fortune cookies, etc. It's a great site for the bride/groom on a budget. They also have great prices on favor bags and boxes.
