you could also try www.bridesave.com if you're not afraid of buying online. you might want to look at bridesmaids dresses too because many of them can be ordered in white or ivory and they're less formal (I was thinking of doing that to save money).

but I would much rather go to a store and buy dresses. Many of the bridal shops carry destination wedding dresses, which are light weight, and not so traditional, if that's what you are looking for.

My Daughter just got Married in Aruba, so she searched and searched, for a beautiful but a not heavy dress. She chose a beautiful dress thats was light and airy, and was exactly what she wanted. It was on line, the place is called The Bridal Online Store, and she chose # 4030 and the picture did no justice, it was stunning! Hope that helps. It was shorter in front then layered longer in the back, it just flowed, and was perfect.

I got married last year in punta cana. I did'nt want the big(heavy and hot) wedding dress so I ended up going to Laura(in ottawa) and found a verry nice white prom dress, light and airy it was perfect. And evrybody thought it was a wedding dress, I actualy found the same dress in a bridal store was almost 4 time the price!!!! i paid 120$ the SAME dress goes for 500$ in a bridal store. My dress was perfect for a beach wedding . Hope this helps

The website www.beachcomberbride.com has many beach wedding dresses by US designers. With each dress there is a link to the designers website where you can find local bridal salons that stock that particular beach wedding dress. It is a great resource.

I just got back from a wedding in St. Thomas, and I wanted something longer and elegant, but not heavy and beaded. Jcrew had a few different dresses, I got mine for 300 and that included the hem and I think I paid 30 to have it tailored. It was perfect!

I tried David's (horrible service) and a few others, but kept ending up in the heavy beaded or tight silk/satin dresses.
