My husband and I are planning a wedding vow renewal and we decided that our "theme" will be "Only Time" It is a song that Enya performed on her "Day Without Rain" album..... it was the song we fell in love to. It was the song for our first dance.

We're going to somehow put the phrase "WHo can say if your love grows as your heart chose? ...Only Time." On our cake and it will also be at the top of our wedding invitation.

Short of using it for a processional, I'd like some more ideas of how to incorporate the theme "Only Time" into the day. Its a very fitting song for a renewal being held on an anniversary.

Here are the lyrics:

"Who can say where the road goes,
where the day flows?
...Only Time.

And who can say if your love grows,
as your heart chose?
...Only time.

Who can say why your heart sighs,
when your love flies?
...Only Time.

And who can say why your heart cries,
when your love lies?
...Only Time.

Who can say when the roads meet,
that love might be in your heart?
And who can say when the days sleeps,
if the night keeps all your heart?
Night keeps all your heart.

Who can say if your love grows,
as your heart chose?
...Only Time.

And who can say where the road goes,
where the day flows?
...Only Time.

Who knows? Only Time."

Help me out ladies!

I love that song. I don't know where you would put it if not have it as the processional. Maybe during the cake cutting or the last song of the night? Or maybe it could be playing when you enter the reception.

Its a small ceremony 40 people, 45 at the most so we're not really having a typical "reception." we're having dinner in the adjoining room so no dancing or anything. My husband might hook his ipod up to my portable stereo (I've had it for years and it has been used in more weddings that I can count! lol)

I wish there was a way to print pillar candles at home....that would make a cool centerpeice!

Look for favors (eBay is good!) that you can personalize with "Only time" or for stickers you can have a line printed on to attach to bubbles or favors. There are mints and candies that can be done the same way... since you are doing a dinner as your reception.

PERFECT song! I absolutely LOVE that song too. :) Jenn has terrific timeline ideas....using past and present pics, etc. :)

I'm not looking for a "through time" kind of theme. Since we will have only been married 5 years, I'm looking more for something along the lines of "time will tell" Both of my grandparents passed away within 6 months of one another during the first year of our marriage so putting anything associated with them will just bring down the mood.

Do those stickers come in clear? I'm asking because I think that we're going to do ivory everything (cake, candles, my gown, etc) and even if the stickers come in ivory, they might be difficult to match.

I had an idea about puttting a pillar candle in a flower ring with an organza ribbon on it that says "Only Time".

I'm trying to track down the video for the song...its been song long since I've seen it that i can't remember.... hoping I can get some ideas that way.

Thanks everyone!

I ***e up with a couple of ideas.

I found a couple of these small, porcelain clocks on ebay...they have roses painted on them and I'll bet I can find them locally at gift shops for cheap!

The other idea I had was getting some broken, vintage clocks and taking out the decorative parts (faces, hands, keys, sprockets, etc) and attachting them to my wedding favors with a witty phrace (one which I have yet to come up with!)

Cool idea!

We were thinking of using percelain clocks as part of our centerpeices...maybe anniversary clocks? (we don't need that many) and then have a contest or drawing at the reception to see who gets to take them home.... like, people who have been married a certain number of years. Whatcha think?
