*covers face in embarrassment* I'm going to confess, and please please don't laugh or think I'm silly. I think this is the one place where you ladies would understand, b/c my family and friends think I'm nuts. I had always imagined myself married in a satin halter mermaid with a sweep train, and that's exactly what I got a couple months ago:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/lil_daizee/My%20engagement/MermaidHalter.jpg

It's demure, it's sweet, it's quiet and classy. And I've always worn halter-styled dresses. One of my bridesmaids have been badgering me to try something new b/c I should stand out on my wedding day.

...Then the February/March issue of ModernBride ***e last week, and I saw this dress:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/lil_daizee/My%20engagement/LaceGown.jpg

AND I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO STOP THINKING ABOUT IT SINCE SEEING IT. :o I DREAM about this dress at night when I sleep. How utterly sad is that?!

What to do, what to do? It looks SO expensive I'm afraid to ask for a price quote. But then...what would I do with my satin mermaid?

Am I normal? B/c I think about this lace gown A LOT, and I can see myself in it, and I can imagine my FH's face when he sees it, b/c it's NOT a halter, which he's seen me in a kazillion times before. I know, I have problems... :(

I think they are both beautiful. If the other one is in your price range and you can get it ordered and in time for your wedding, you could always sell the other dress. If you have any big parties coming up before the wedding then you could wear it to that too. I don't know where you live but you could wear to a Mardi Gras ball or something (they are big here in Mobile, AL). I think they are both beautiful though, so whichever you choose, i'm sure it will look great on you!

You could also do the two dress thing- one dress for the wedding and one for the reception.

if it is the dress of your dreams you almost have to get it. You can always sell the other one or keep it as a cocktail dress.

I would say go with whichever dress you like the best. I know for me it was a once in a lifetime event and I wanted to look my best. I agree with your bridesmaid if you always wear halter tops you should be different on your wedding day! There are plenty of places you could sell your dress to or you could re-use it for something else!

I'm from Fairfax, VA...I don't THINK we have Mardi Gras balls here. Yeah...I'll look into it. My mom wants me to ask my aunt in Vietnam if her seamstress can make it if I send a picture. That would so rock.

Yeah, I could...except the ceremony site and the reception site are about a 30second walk away from each other. :D Same location--haha. I think I would probably sell it.

Isn't it too gorgeous, Donna? I love strapless gowns, but they are not very flattering on me. With this dress I can have a strapless look under the lace. ;) I'm going to call and ask the price today at lunch. *crosses fingers I won't fall off my chair*

If it is the dress of your dreams you almost have to get it I like the way you think! :) See, I knew you ladies wouldn't tell me to "OMG make up your mind about your dress already" as some of my friends have said. :p

I think I'll sell it...well...if I could get this other dress. The moment I have the lace gown clutched to my bosom (if ever) in one hand, you can bet I'll be on the computer advertising the satin mermaid with the other. :D

You could take that pic around to local bridal salons and see if they have something like it. You could also see if the store that you bought your dress from would buy it back from you. Or try posting around town that you are selling your dress, ebay or the newspaper.

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about taking it around to bridal salons! Thanks!

This is your wedding day if you don't get what you want you will regret it and forever wish you had gotten it. You could sell the other dress or dye it another color and wear it for something else. I purchased a $5000.00 gown and let me tell you I would not have been happier unless I had this gown sooo instead of me being sick over what I spent, I am happy I got what I wanted. No matter how crazy!!!!

That dress is a San Patrick right? I think they start at $1000 and go up from there. So I guess it will be a 4 digit number... but not a BIG 4 digit number.

Hey listen if it's the one that will make you feel like the most beautiful woman on earth go for it. If it makes you feel any better I changed my dress choices like 10 times before I purchased "The one". And trust me it was the one because once I tried it on in the store I was in tears. So go for it. You can always use the $ from the one you sell to help absorb the cost for the dream dress. Just my 2 cents.

If you're going on a honeymoon after, you could use one of them for an evening gown for dinner on your honeymoon

I sent my measurements and the pictures back to my aunt in Vietnam. I'm waiting to see if her seamstress can copy it. I called a bridal shop in my area and was told the MSRP for the San Patrick Daimiel is $1250. My FH and I are paying for our wedding all by ourselve...and $1250 puts my dress budget over. So we shall see. *crosses fingers*

Yep...unfortunately...the only bridal store in my area that carried the San Patrick line quoted me $1250. boo.

lol Thanks for the 2 cents, I'll put that towards the cost of the other dress...hahaha. Sorry, I'm really tired and I tend to get silly and tell bad jokes when i am...

Yep, like i mentioned in a previous response to someone else...i'm going to try to get my aunt's seamstress to copy it for me. maybe not the exact same lace overlay, but something very pretty.

I know I know I get that all the time and I am working 2 jobs to pay for my half of it. My parents gave me a 3,000 limit on the dress. When I found this one I said I would pay half. I cut other places. I have 1 limo instead of 2, I am not a huge flower fan but I am getting only the minimum flowers I need and my reception includes a lot of things like the cake and reception flowers so that I will not have to worry about that. I also am not getting a videographer. I also got my fiancee's parents to pay for our photographer... sooooo that is how i reasoned with it. Iknow in time I will be like what the hell was I thinking but at least I know I got the one I wanted. I would not have found a better gown in my eyes and I would have compared that gown to every gown I looked at after that. So.. my advice when going shopping for a gown make sure that there only showing you gowns in YOUR price range or else I can promise you will fall in love with one that is crazy expen$ive.

Not be so sad. If you don't mind, I thought maybe i could help you get both of them at desire price if you could accept to purchase from internet. We could make custom dress for this two styles wanted by you within 2-3 weeks.
If you are interested, you could contact me by www.neoweddinggown.com.

If you found it at a local bridal shop, you should go in and try it on. Maybe after trying it on, you'll find it isn't for you. Or maybe it will only make you more determined to figure out how to get it! Either way, you'll know!
