Designer Reproductions (knock-offs)

Hey all!

I fell in love with Oleg Cassini's cv008 dress, but can't afford the 1200$ that David's Bridal charges. I have seen online sites that offer dresses that are reproductions/knock-offs of this dress for a lot less. Has anyone had any experience with designer knock-off dresses? In the pictures, the dress looks the same. Thanks so much!

I bought my dress and Carla on here told me it was a Maggie knock off. I wouldn't have every known. My wedding salon has what called "Private Collection" and that's what they told me my dress was. You might take a picture of the dress and take it to other local wedding salons and see if they have a dress similar. Or wait and once in a while DB does their $75-$200 discounts on some of their dresses.

Yes, that's the dress. I love it! It's perfect for my outdoor wedding. I tried it on and it was *the* dress, minus the high price tag. I'm a teacher, we get paid in time (vacations), not money, so 1200$ is out of the question. Do you think that's a fair price on Ebay, 599$? Anyone else bought from this seller?

I don't know about that seller but my cousin bought her dress on ebay and loved it. If you are worried, do a payment through Paypal if it's available with the seller. I've heard that's the easiest way to help get your money back. Look at their feedback from other sellers.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a dress off eBay. The dress was out of Alabama, from a bridal boutique where it was a floor sample. The seller said it was in "walk down the isle" condition and was a Private Collection reproduction of Oleg Cassini's cv008. With shipping, the dress ***e to about $140. I felt for that small amount of money, it was worth the risk. Even if it's not 100% similar to the cv008, it's still going to be a gorgeous dress. The photos showed the same detailing and embroidery. The dress should be arriving late next week, I'll let you girls know how it goes! And if the dress doesn't work out, DB is having a 12 month same as cash financing special!

The Private Collection reproduction of DB cv008 looks EXACTLY like the real thing. I can't tell any difference at all. It's a beautiful dress and in perfect condition. I am so glad that I took the chance! The only difference is that it's a little tighter than the one I tried on at DV-though there they had me in the strapless bra/girdle combo thingy, so that may have some impact (though I'm not too mad bc it does give me more motiviation to tone up before the big day!). Yay for you!! That price is awesome too!! I almost got the exact same dress, from the same Ebay seller, but found one 'less fancy' for my outside wedding. But maaaaan, if I were getting married inside, THAT would be the one!! You're going to look fabulous! :D
