Hi Everyone!
I'm perplexed. I have read in so many etiquette magazine articles that a second-time bride can not, under any circumstances, wear a veil. My dress does not have a train, but it is a ballgown (not too poufy). We are getting married in the church with only 50 guests at noon. Both of us were married before in very small ceremonies with no frills, including no veil. My fiance' wouldl love for me to wear a veil, with no frills and no pouf. I want to. What do you think? Will the etiquette police arrest me??
Thanks!
Angel

Congratulations, first of all it is your wedding and you need to do what makes you happy. And if they means wearing a veil then wear one, no one will think anything of it. You just don't want to look back on your wedding and regret anything.
I hope this helps

I am in a similar quandry! Wear it! From what I have read though, it should not be a full veil. I forget the names. Sorry. But the one that is just to cover your face and you could also flip it back, which is what I am thinking of doing.

Forget the etiquette police! This wedding is for the two of you and not them. Do what makes you happy! For everyone's reference, the veil names are as follows:
FINGERTIP VEIL -- hangs just to your fingers (duh! :p )
BLUSHER VEIL -- really short; only covers your face
WALTZ or BALLERINA VEIL -- hangs down to your elbow
CHAPEL VEIL -- just touches the floor (always worn with a floor-length gown)
CATHEDRAL VEIL -- trails along the floor behind you (fastened at the shoulders or waist)
MANTILLA VEIL -- "a large circle of solid lace or lace-edged illusion nylon than is worn loosely over the head, like a scarf" (never heard of this before)
Good luck!

First of all, it is your wedding! I just recently got remarried after 15 years of being divorced. I wore a wedding and a veil. My understanding is that you don't wear a blusher (that's for first time brides). Other than, you can wear whatever your heart desires. Good luck and congrats!

I think you should wear a veil if that make you happy. I think that you should not decide what to wear from a etiquette magazine. Good Luck!

A lot of ettiquette that surrounds weddings, especially when it comes to what to wear/not wear is so very outdated - it has a lot to do with royalty being present at weddings - well, I don't have the Queen of England coming to mine, how about you? :) Do what you WANT to do. Besides, the only people that really know "ettiquette" are those planning weddings and looking into it lol :P

I agree with everyone else...do what YOU want, its your day. Congratualtions on your upcoming wedding, and have fun!!!!
I'm getting remarried in March 2006 and I plan on wearing an ivory dress and that is because the white really drains all of the color out of my skin. I will also be wearing a veil that will go to my fingertips. If I listened to all of these darn etiquette magazines then I would be in trouble. When I went to the bridal shop to look at some of the different dresses I only wanted ivory and then the gal asked me why and I told her it was because white is for first-time brides only. She politely told me that it was my wedding and I should wear what felt comfortable.

Exactly! Its kinda like that old thing of not wearing white after labor day - well I ain't Jackie-O and I'll wear what I wanna! :)
