Well I dont have a picture but I was thinking of putting my cake on a stand and draping purple fabric over the stand and then scattering some fresh flowers(same as on the cake) all over the table with maybe some votives and the serving set of course.

I totally like that! I'm having alot of white lights so that will go good with it!
Our reception venue will add lights to the head table, guest book table and cake table for an extra charge of course. When we went to visit it looked really cool so I knew that I wanted the head table and cake table. I don't think I'll do the guest book table though.

I actually have an appointment to put my deposit down tomorrow for our venue. So I will ask them about lighting charges... Thank you!
Or just see if you provide them with some lights if they will hang them for you. Christmas lights are all on sale right now.

I like that. I wanted to put small but elegant candy dishes (maybe four) on the table and some votive candles, do you think that's appropriate to have the candy on the cake table? My mother said I should not do the candy.

I think the candy would be fine. I was actually considering putting a long table in the middle for the candy buffet I am having and then putting the bride's cake and groom's cake on the side. I think the candy would offer something to people who don't really like cake (even though there shouldn't be many). The way mine will probably look is a small table on the left side with the bridal cake which is going to be white fondant with green swag and shamrocks with emerald green silk underneath it. The middle will be a long 6' table covered with emerald green silk and a shelf on the back for the second "tier" of the candy buffet. The table on the right will be smaller and having the groom's cake which is a tank and will have little ***o plates and cups. Also on both sides of the candy buffet, I will have two punch bowls with green punch for St. Patty's Day. I think I explained all that right. The biggest problem I am having with tables in general is getting the tulle and lights around the bases. I am having green xmas lights and tulle with red rose petals everywhere. I have looked for hooks, but I haven't seen anything that would hold up the xmas lights and the tulle......
My other option is to put the candy buffet in the adjoining room for people to mingle into and just leave two cake tables and a punch table in the reception area. It is in the lower level of a church, so I have three Sunday School classrooms at my disposal.

That sound really nice. I wanted a candy buffet but I don't know. I think it looks so nice and such a cute idea. Well, I'm going to think about it some more and see if I'll do the candy buffet or just a few bowls on the cake table.

I will take a lot of pics of mine and post them for you, but the wedding isn't for 2.5 months, but I will be sure to post a lot of pics.

When I drop off a cake I decorate the table, I had a lady that wanted
fabric around the table but she gave me no way to stick it there, I went to my van and found push pins (tacks), lots of white and stuck them on the top in between the table corners and the plastic side protectors of the table. I stick them up under and through the fabric. It worked great and held A LOT of fabric.

My cake will be displayed in the middle of our sweet table. The venue is going to have sterns (I think its called) on the sides which is the sweet table, so I don't have to decorate the table, the sweet table item will be the decorations. Hooray!!!
