Where do you get a passport?

I have no idea where to get a passport! I know at Ritz camera you can get a passport photo taken, but I don't know where to get the actual passport!!!

Someone was telling me to try the post office. They may be incredibly wrong..but that was what they told me! hehe.

The US government website shoul dhave all the forms you need or certain post offices can issue them. But call ahead first since not all do it.

The paper work really only takes a couple minutes but you will need a photo ID and social security card to get it notarized and processed. The waiting is usually the hardest part. It can seem like it takes forever so the sooner the better.

Also, the post office can be really irritating and make you schedule an appointment...try the city hall office. They are great there, and you walk in and they have you make the payment and they send it all out for you. This is the step after you go to kiko's or Ritz to get your photo taken. You also have to have your birth certificate with you when you go to get it.

Also go to the site above that lacey posted...fill it out before you go...makes it easier! Also tell them it's for your honeymoon....they should give ou a name change packet so when you come back you can do it and send it back out to get your updated one with your new name. If you don't do it within a certain amount of time, I think it's like 2 weeks, they charge you for a new passport when you do the anme change.

Also it takes like 3 months to get in!

I forgot to mention the birth certificates. Good catch Kikki. I should have remembered that too. It was quite the adventure to get both Sean and I's birth certs. I know also if you check with the post office, some will do your picture for you. Call and ask, it will save you a stop and it really costs about the same.

How long are they good for? I have never had one and I don't even know if I will need one yet but I was just wondering how long they are good for. We will have to wait and see where we decide to go on our honeymoon to before I go get one though.

Yikes! I forgot about this! For our cruise they told us either original birth certificate or passport. I think we're just going to do the birth cert. Passports are expensive!

Ah, you can always go down to the courthouse and get a new one for $11 so I'm not too worried! :p
