I would like to name my guest dinner tables rather than number them. I read someone's post on here that said to avoid guests feelings getting hurt by being placed at table number 18 vs. 4, naming tables would solve that.
My theme is Moulin Rouge, so I am looking for ideas to incorporate that.
I have thought of using words in French, but what words? Or cities in France maybe? Not sure. Help!!!
Also, has anyone seen any eiffel tower holders? How big should the table name cards and holders be? Should they be the focal point of the centerpiece?
Thanks again!!! You ladies are so much help!!!!!!

Maybe you could use different color feathers and have each centerpiece with different feathers to "name" the tables. You could get little mardi gras feathers and use those tied to a business card to indicate the tables. Just an idea, but it's late, so i'll probably come up with more tomorrow.

I like that idea! that would be really cute...i was thinking the french word thing would be neat or each table could be "love" in a different language but i'm not sure if that goes with your theme

this place has a few nice things. Reecy gave me this addy a long time ago. My theme was also Paris, I used names of major places in France
Eiffle Tower
Notre Dame
Arc de Triomphe
Avignon
cabaret
Opera house
Or use a famous city in France(tons of those)
Love Potion Bottles: Buy small, corked vials from an inexpensive source like Specialty Bottle. Print "love potion" on rounded stickers using a free fairy font and attach to bottles. Fill with an ancient Druidic recipe for Love Potion Tea using dry ingredients only. Tie a white or silver bow around the cork, and attach a tag with the recipe, plus the couple's name and wedding date

I like the idea of things from France because people may associate them better. Amoure (sp?) means love. It's been a while since I took French! You could name your head table Moulin Rouge or the parent's table that.

I think I am going to use cities in France. These are what I have come up with so far. I want to use ones that people have heard of.
Paris
Toulouse
Bordeaux
Lourdes
Nice
Cannes
French Riviera
Strasbourg
Monaco
Reims
Provence
Any others you can think of that are more common?
I was thinking of using Moulin Rouge characters like Satine and Zidler, but their aren't enough. Plus, I like the French words better.
I might try that translator and use words like love, friendship, commitment, chemistry (we met in chemistry class) and trust.
I think I am still leaning towards the cities.
Thoughts anyone??

If you do the towns, you could put interesting facts about the town underneath it so people aren't sitting their wondering what their town is. Or a map with a star to show where it is.
Ask FH which he would rather have. If I've had a decsion between two things, I asked FH which he would like.

He has been a big part in planning! He works at night, so we e-mail back and forth. I send him pictures and ideas. It is so fun!

That's cool, I would see what he thinks then. Maybe he likes one idea better than the other. FH has been okay. Some things he cares about, other things he could care less. He helped me decide the accent color between periwinkle and peridot. He liked periwinkle better. I asked him about cake cutting set because I couldn't decide and he didn't care!

I think it is funny what they care about. Mine could care less about cake flavors, but absolutely has to have a wishing well. Out of everything, he wants a wishing well and a framed photo where guests sign the matte. So far, those are the biggest things he cares about.

I really like the idea of having interesting facts or a map, that's really cute! It's kind of like what we're thinking of doing for our tables. They are all going to be Dave Matthews Band song titles (Jeff and I are HUGE DMB fans) and then a romantic line from the song on the card as well. For example, the head table (I know, you're not supposed to number the head table, but its our fav song!) will be #41 (for the song of the same title) and the line "I wouldn't pass this by. . ." under the name. I think it will be cute, and a little bit more personal than numbers.
