Maybe you girls can help me with this. I found this dress that I absolutely adore. I think I want to purchase it. I was getting antsy and decided to call around to a couple of stores to see if I could find the dress to try on. None of the stores have the dress and if I order it I have to purchase it.
I thought about trying on a similar dress that has the same fitting. But would you buy a dress that you only saw online and not in person.
In my head I keep thinking that this dress will be perfect but then I also think what if I buy this thing and it looks horrible on my shape....
Here is a picture of it!

Oh gosh... that's a toughie. I have been having the same problem though. I've seen a lot of gowns I think I might like, but no one has one in their store. I'm very wary about just buying the dress without knowing what it looks like on. Its SOOOOOO hard to tell from a picture, ya know? I'm sorry, I guess I don't know what to tell you. I guess I would be afraid of ordering it if it were me. But I know several girls on here have ordered their dresses online... so I'm sure they didn't get to try them on beforehand.

I would be so nervous ordering a dress I never tried on. Wedding gowns are sized differently and they say try on different styles because what you like on the rack may not be what looks good on you. Personally I would not do it. Since it seems you really love the dress just check the return policy (if there is one) just in case it looks different on. Good luck.

That is really tough. The dress that I thought I liked in the pictures didn't look that good on me. You would probably be better off to maybe try some stores outside of your area to see if they have them or finding a similar one to try on.

I had the same problem with my "dream dress", I saw it online and had a hard time finding salons that carried it and when I finally did, it looked horrible on me!! Try to find it and see how it looks on you.

I wouldn't recommend it; you might be stuck with a dress that looks terrible on you. Have you gone out and tried on any dresses yet?

I agree with the rest of the girls. When I first started looking at dresses I totally thought I wanted a halter style but when I went to try them on they looked horrible on me!! I ended up with a strapless a-line which surprised me.

i am in the same situation and nick and i are gonna drive up north for like 3 or 4 hours to this bridal store cos its the only one in florida that has my dress to try on.. .i dont trust spending so much on the perfect gown unless im sure i want it, and at the same time i wouldnt trust getting any other gown unless youre sure you dont want this one...
i actually emailed the manufacuter and asked them where i can try on the dress and they gave me the number.. .

since you are in Cary, you are close enough to go to the Bridal Mart in Burlington...they have a ton of dresses in stock and they carry the Mary's Bridal (I know because when I was trying on dresses there one of the two finals was a Mary's dress) They may even have this dress in stock and you can try it on. I highly reccomend going there and trying dresses on if nothing else....you can get a good idea of what styles look best on you and their prices were hands down the best in the State. I drove from Charlotte to buy my dress there that is how awesome an experience it was. I would highly reccomend it. :D

Exact same thing here.
Maybe you can try on another Mary's gown that is similar? I didn't order my gown until the bridal shop received the sample for me to try on. I think if the shop carries that particular designer, they can request samples be sent to them.

Its a tough decision. I think I am going to do what Donna said and email the manufactor to see if they can tell me where I can locate a dress.
I tried the major stores in this area and none of them have it.
I have some days off at the end of this week ..so I will go and try some dresses on .....darn..

The same goes here. I thought I had found the dress of my dreams. No one could tell me anything. Everyone said I would change my mind, blah, blah, blah. Well, I went to the store and tried it on along with 2 other dresses and low and behold...I hated it! It made my arms and ****s look enormous. Now normally the **** thing wouldn't be so bad but I already wear a size D so.
Anyway I tried on a dress that didn't look so hot on the website but when I tried it on and looked in the mirror I cried. I loved it. Not something that I would normally see myself wearing but I couldn't live without it and I am ordering it on Thursday. My advice is the same as the girls, please try on the dress first. You should be happy on your wedding day and you feeling and looking your best is part of that. Good luck on finding a dress that you LOVE!

I'd have to say no. Because it seemed to me that almost every dress I thought I liked (from pictures) didn't look good on me. And ones that I passed by in the catalog werew gorgeous on me.

I called them. I was all excited because they carried the bridesmaids dresses that I like and at a great price.
They didnt have the style dress from Mary's but I am hoping that I will find another dream dress, like the girls said. I am positive something will work out.
On another note....your wedding pics were wonderful. Congratulations!

Thanks so much!! My dress ***e from Bridal Mart. I think you should definately take a look there...I really enjoyed going there because they had so many dresses in stock and I was able to try on a lot of different ones and styles to find the best one. Actually, my second choice dress was a Mary's dress...I just decided on the one I picked because it had sleeves and the Mary's dress didn't.....Let me know if you go there and if you find the experience to be as good as I did. One tip, if you are going on a weekend...go on Sunday...they are crazy on Saturdays. I actually went on Memorial day, so it wasn't as busy and I definatelyliked that it wasn't so crazy. :D
