Okay, I was looking at a Maggie Sottero's Capri Marie today. It's a sample gown and it only costs $350.

I like the dress and all... but it IS a sample and it will need to have some things fixed. What do you girls think?

That is a great price. I bought the sample dress with mine. It doesn't need any repairs and I got the sample for $600. There's nothing wrong with buying a sample dress.
How much money are you saving by doing this?

I tried that dress on and I loved it. I went with a different one cause it was a little formal for my wedding but i think $350.00 is a good deal. You shouldn't need too many alterations cause it has a corset back but I can't imagine what you do need fixed costing that much $$$. The shop I tried mine on wanted $695 for it. I would say go for it :p

Oh, I forgot to mention... there is a Maggie trunk show coming up after christmas. I was waiting for that... but this dress is such a good deal. Plus, what if I don't see anything I like at the trunk show? Then I will have let this good deal get away. Todays the last day of their sample sale and they close at 6:00.

Um... there are some beads that are loose and one of the seams is starting to split. Plus there's a bit of dirt on the hemline.

It's all up to you. I determinded that buying mine brand new plus having the alterations would be a lot more than buying the sample and still needing the same alterations. That's why I bought my sample.

If time permits, I would wait for the trunk show. It's Maggie. Of course there's going to be something you like!lol But if you're completely satisified with this dress, then go with this one. But make sure that you are completely satisified.

I would buy it! It's a beautiful dress and you can't beat the price. I bought a sample Maggie Sottero dress for half price too. It only had a ballpoint pen mark on it that ***e out immediately at the bridal salon.

Yeah, I suppose I would probably see something I like. But if you order something at the trunk show, you'll only get a 10% discount. :( I guess I'm having a hard time finding a dress that I like that isn't going to cost over $500.

hun honestly i would wait. the trunk show is right around the corner. if you dont like anything there you can always go back to bridsaave or a couple of other places. Sounds like to me that you really dont want it anyway. Its just the price that is driving you more than the dress itself.

That dress is $700 at Bridesave though. I dunno... I like the dress. It's just so hard. I feel like I'd be making a mistake that would cost me a lot if I wait.

I agree. I almost bought a gown that I liked because it was on clearance and was something like $200. I'm so glad that I didn't, because the one I ended up with I just loved. Of course, I didn't love the price! LOL
I would get it only if you were absolutely sure that this was the one, and you stopped looking cold turkey...

Sorry... I haven't been on for a couple of days (WORK!!!! AGH!!!!).
Anyways, I decided to go ahead and get it. It is a good deal and they are going to fix everything that is wrong with it for free. I think the lady at the salon was right... I'd looked at so many dresses that I just didn't know what I wanted anymore. She said to make lists of "must-haves" and "would-like-to-haves". Well, I thought about it and I knew the things that I really did what/need in a dress (light weight... short train/plain train that could be cut off... ivory or champagne). Then I thought about all of the things I would also like to have in a dress (strapless... dropped waist... fuller skirt... color details or accents... something surprising, different, and/or unique). So I ***e to realize that this dress fit all of those qualities. So why couldn't it be "the one"? I tried it on again and I decided it looked pretty darn good on me. ;)
So thanks for everyone's opinions and advice. Everyone at work really likes the dress too (I found a picture in a magazine to show them).

I'm glad you're happy! It's probably a good thing you got it now..who knows how much longer it would have been there. Post a picture when you can..I can't wait to see it. :)

I'm looking at jewelry right now to go with the dress. I need to find some simple, dainty things. I'll probably just buy a bunch of stuff so I can take it in to compare with the dress (then I'll return all of it, of course ;) ). So, I'll be sure to get a picture of the dress while I'm doing that. :)

Yeah, I've already found a ton of possibilies at the store I work at. LOL! They're probably wondering why I keep staring at jewelry all day instead of working. :p
