Hey everyone I have a question...duh!!!!
A lot of my friends are saying that since I'm small (size 3) I can get just about any dress I want and they will fit it to me if they don't have my size...
is that true and if it happens (don't have my dress yet..havent gone dress shopping) is it going to cost more for me to get it to actually fit me???
I have ONE dress that I really want...but I still have to try it on...and if it just looks stupid on me I'll have to pick...quickly to cause my wedding is only 5 months away...yikes!!! by the time i go dress shopping it will be 4 months away....
i don't like living on the edge of stress but it's working out that way... :)

You can get just about any dress taken in to your size...but I would start looking and order ASAP. Some dresses take 7 months to come in (mine is this way) so you just need to get out there and find someone to work quickly with you. Don't worry though, it'll work out and you'll find the perfect gown!

Try going to a store that carries many sizes of the same dress, like David's Bridal. The store I'll be buying from only carries one of each dress. There's no way to take your dress the day you buy it. This way you'll save time for alterations. My friends planned their whole wedding in 5 months. Don't worry, you can do it!

Alot of bridal salons have stocked size dresses and then they order the dress in your size. Plus, wedding dresses usually run small so if you are normally a 3, you may fit into a 5-6 in wedding dresses. The problem is, with it being so close to your wedding, you may have to find a dress in the store (like David's bridal or buy on "off the rack" at the store). Some places, it can take months to get a wedding dress in and then usually you still need alterations which can take 6-8 weeks. I suggest getting into a store ASAP and find out what their policy is on ordering dresses. Buying off the rack is what I did. The bridal salon I went to will sell you the sample size dress as is for 30% off. Most of them will tell you that pink marked ones (or whatever color), you can buy that dress off the rack for a discount. If you can find a dress that you like in a close size to what you are, you can purchase that dress that day and still have time to get your alterations done. It's really easy to take a dress in, as long as it's not way too big on you.

You better hurry up and find a dress though! Mine was off the rack but that does not happen to everyone, if I had to order it it would have taken 3 mos and then for 2 months I had fittings! So you might want to think about going ASAP! I don't know about the being small for dresses, last time I was a size 3 I was a sophomore in HS!! (before baby fat)

Hi! I ordered my dress 5 mo. before the wedding...it took 14 weeks to come in and I ended up needing quite a bit of alterations (taken in at the sides, taken up at the waist, hem, bustle)...the alterations took a couple of weeks. I tried it on the week before the wedding, had the seamstress steam it, and picked it up on the way to the wedding rehearsal...
good luck!

I'm a size 2, and almost every bridal store carries their store samples in a size 10-14. When I found my dress and tired the sample on in the store, it was a size 12, so I never got to see how it really looked/fit on me until I ordered mine and it ***e in.
You can always order in your size and then just get minor alterations, but you can also buy something off the rack or on ebay, even if it's too large for you. Just make sure that you have a good seamstress that is qualified to downsize a gown, especially if its over 2 sizes too large for you.
Dont worry about it, either way, you should be fine! And it's funny, because I disagree with the saying that ALL dresses look good on thinner girls, because I think I look awful in tulle-y ballgowns. I look like a 10 year old playing dress up ;)

oh just thinking about me in a tula type dress is funny!!

Most of the stores I went to carried samples sizes from 2-26, it just depends on the stores you go to.
