thank you. i wanted something totally different. i fell in love with the rose fabric and just did it. lol
i think i'm going to have my hair braided.

Yes I did and thank you very much. I sew all the time, and have for years. David and I have 4 kids, ages 15, 10, 8 and 5, so I sew many of their pj's, short outfits, etc.....

When i say simple thats a good thing. I love the color and fabric and the over lay is a nice touch. match it with some pretty pink jewlery and i almost think u should do an updo.. but then again thats just me.

lol well thank you. nice to think i could still be in my early 20s. but nope i'm turning 35 in april. ugh. yeah i only have 2 kids, my son is 15 yrs and my daughter is 10 yrs. the other 2 are my step sons, ages 8 and 5. now david my FI is 27 yrs old. he'll be 28 in Feb.
yeah i wanted a simple dress with color, nothing to fancy or anything. my son chris said "mom, it makes your (he motioned to his chest) area look even (waving his hands in and out)". lol :p meaning bigger. lol. kids. gotta love them.

not sure about an updo since my hair is very long and its thick....it weighs alot!!! so i may just do a braid. not sure yet though.

thank you very much. it really means alot. sewing is not hard at all. i learned from my exmother in law from my first marriage. she had 8 kids and sewed all the time for them. so she taught me.

the jacket/train has a strip of beading to it all around it. but the hem on the dress isn't done yet. i still need to hem that up. but the top of the dress, does have a strip of the beading on it like the jacket/train does.

I think that's really pretty. I love the back view. Pink roses are my favorite!

Since this is my 2nd wedding, and only attended by 12 or so people, I didn't go with a traditional wedding dress either. I was lucky to find a white halter dress at Macy's on sale for $29.99. I kinda wanted a train, but really don't want to drag it around with me all night partying. I don't want a train to get all dirty either. Bustling is NOT an option. However, I would LOVE something like your overlay for the ceremony because it would give me the train I want without having to drag it around with me all night. Can you PM me so we can talk more about it?

I totally agree with this about the hair and the edging! I have some shirts that have ruffly edging like that, and I've noticed they look much better on me when I scrunch my hair all loose and curly.

With such a romantic dress with its loose swirls and curves, IMHO I think a braid might look a bit severe :)

The dress is beautiful and I think it's wonderful that you made it - VERY resourceful! Resourcefulness good ingredient for marriage! :)
