Hi Everyone,

I recently had a problem with a known dry cleaning company. I droped off my Pronovias Semilla gown to be cleaned, and it ***e back ruined. the dress is made out of dupioni silk, that is generally a pretty thick fabric. It ***e back from the cleaners limp and wrinkled, and the fabric was so thin! There were also red stains on the dress that looked like rust.

I just wanted to know if any of you have ever dry cleaned your same Pronovias Semilla gown and if you had any problems with it. The company that cleaned my dress is blaming the type of fabric and the maker of the gown - i think this is an excuse.

It would be greatly appreciated if you let me know that your dress ***e back in good condition from your dry cleaners as all of your responces can help my case against the cleaners.

thank you!!

here are some photos of the dress:

I am so sorry about your gown. Some people just don't know how to handle couture

If that is you, you looked absolutely stunning in your dress! :)

Never, ever let a dry cleaners clean your gown. My cousin had a beautiful Amsale gown and the cleaners ruined it. I use Wedding Gown Preservation Company and they even made my mother's 50 year old gown look like new for about $150.

Claire,

what a beautiful dress! I have had a gown ruined by a dry cleaners before-did you take the dress from the cleaners or leave it there when you saw the condition it was in when you went to pick it up? Hopefully you didint take it. I would go back and calmly ask to speak to the manager/owner, not the counterperson. If the person you need to speak to is not there, ask when you can come back when they will be there. If they will not tell you leave your name, number and ask for a timeframe of when to expect to hear back from the person in charge (get a name). Make sure to f/u with them if they dont contact you by promised time.

Next, Im guessing you didint have any red wine mishaps with the dress before you dropped it off since you sounded like you had no idea how the red stains got on the dress, anyway. It is there responsibilty to check the label/fabric content of the gown...if they dont have the capability to clean the dress they should have told you so and refused to take it in/called you and said to pick up the dress. Dry cleaners can usually handle silk though. If there was no staining on the dress when you dropped it off...I would seriously question how they appeared on an ivory/white dress from cleaning!

You should get a replacement or equal from this cleaners, I wouldnt settle for anything less. Dont be afraid to lay it out for them- what you expect and that you wont settle for less- I hope you have the reciept for this purchase or can get a copy to bring with you when you go back to document the price you paid.

Good Luck!
