My FH and I love Red Velvet cake, and were having a destination wedding. We have been talking to the wedding coordinator and she told us the chef will only be able to prepare a cake with one flavor because of the size of the cake (it's a 2 tier but very small, were only having twenty guests) . Do you think the guests will like red velvet I know it's out of the norm for a wedding cake and would it be selfish for us to get it (because it's our favorite).
Here's a few pics of the cake:

It looks gorgeous, but I have never had it before, what does it taste like?
You know your guests better than anyone else. Do most of them like to try new things, or do they like to stick with what they know? If all but a few would be open to the idea, I say go for it! It's your wedding after all. But you don't want to spend the money on a cake that would go to waste.

I've never had that kind of cake before but I think it looks pretty. I say if it is what you and your FH want and it tastes good then go for it. I think having something out of the ordinary would be fun.

It kind if taste like chocolate cake with red food coloring . Don't get me wrong it has a unique taste to it, but the closest I could compare it to would be chocolate cake.

I think it sounds good. I'd get it if I were you and if people don't want it, more for you! :)

I have never had it, but it sounds and looks good! I think that is the type of cake Jessica Simpson had at her wedding. Or some celebrity, I am not sure. I was looking for an eiffel tower wedding cake and read that a celebrity had that as her wedding cake.

I actually considered red velvet for mine too! For those who have never tried it, you should, it's absolutely delictable. I think most guests will like it. If you are really worried, you could make about 10-15 cupcakes in another flavor to go on the sides.

This has to be my favorite thread. I looooooove red velvet cake. My mom usually makes them for Christmas which means right now as we speak aromas of red velvet is penetrating my nostrils. :)
Actually I think that red velvet would be lovely at your wedding. We are having both red velvet and vanilla cake. The layers will be alternating. Go for it honey your guest will love it.
