Hey Everyone my FH and I haven't even really started planning on our honeymoon. It's something we are very much looking forward to doing since this will be the first and only vacation without a little one around (I have a two year old) Well I take that back his sister watched my DD while we went on a weekend get away to the coast. But this will be our first married time to just be alone...will be SO nice for me I'm really looking forward to it...
anyways, not the point of my post!!!! :)
Both of us don't like the heat, we'd rather go somewhere that we can bundle up or at least just wear jeans and t-shirts without killing over from the heat. I'd really like to go to some national park or something like that. We were thinking of the Falls or something like that staying at a bed and breakfast. Or going to the coast again.
Anyone have any good ideas on a cool weather honeymoon. We live in CA and honestly we don't really need to fly anywhere....driving would be fine to...flying would be fun but it's not a MUST...
Thanks ladies!! :D

We are going to Boundary Waters, clear up in Northern Minnesota near the border. We are getting a cabin up there. I don't remember when you are getting married but in August the weather up there is really nice and the bugs are to a minimum. It's not too hot or cold, at night, it's nice weather to snuggle if you are in a tent. Since you are in CA, what about going camping or getting a cabin up in Oregon or Washington?

Thats a good idea, I love Washington and our wedding is in early May so the weather I think would be perfect. I really like the idea of a cabin. I'll have to look up some stuff on line about it now. :)
Never thought about a cabin. My sister and her hubby went to Portland for their honeymoon, stayed at a nice hotel and just enjoyed the sites...I think it would be more relaxing than going to a sunny place. Cause the most you want to do in a cabin is cuddle up and watch movies or whatever ;)
Thanks for the tip!!! I'll have to let you know what I come up with.

Ours is in an area that we can take a canoe out for the day. I prefer something outdoors rather than an "exotic" location. I would rather be camping but FH doesn't like sleeping in a tent. I went up to Boundary Waters last year with my family on a 5 day canoe trip and fell in love with the area. It was one of our first choices, our other was Yosemite, but this is closer and easier to plan for me.

That would be fun, too, it was another option we had but I wanted to get married in the summer.

I don't know when you are getting married but I always enjoy Maine and New Hampshire/Vermont. I have had friend who have gone to Oregon and washington State and said it was lovley. I know next summer Sean and I are planning on an Alaskan cruise. That would be fun for a honeymoon. It would be outdoorsy and still nice and romanitc. There is also Vancouver which I hear is a lovley citywith lots of outdoor things to do.

I told my FH we should go camping for our honeymoon....he said he'd rather go to a cabin or a hotel that way he wouldn't have to do all the work!! LOL silly boys...
We'll go camping with my DD later on in the year instead. We both love it so thats good for me.
Yeah i've never been one for the exotice locations....I'm more of an outdoors hiking type of girl...rather hike along a foggy trail than bake in the sun.. :)
I've started to look up locations in Washington ... cabins...there are some very cute ones and really good prices...I'm impressed actually.
thanks for the tips and ideas...keep em coming!!

Make sure you get your reservation in on time. If it's a state or national park, there may be a waiting list. Maybe look for something that is privately owned and get your reservation done quickly.

My coworker went to Banff in Canada for his honeymoon in late May and loved it. He won't do the beach thing, so he and his wife went hiking, checked out the wildlife, took drives and just chiled by the fire in their cabin. I think they also stayed in Jasper.
Banff has a beautiful old resort - super old school swank - that would be nice for a night's splurge if you are on a budget. here is the site www.fairmont.com/banffsprings/
