My FH and I are paying for our whole wedding ourselves, so we decided to wait on a honeymoon. We were going to go to Vegas, but as the cost of the wedding went up and up, we decided to go there for our first anniversary instead. I am fine with it, it was actually my idea. FH was bummed though, because he was looking forward to it.
Anyway, my FBIL has been begging us to go to Vegas with him for over a year now. We obviously don't have the money with the wedding, mortgage, and 2 kids, so we keep saying no. He then decided to pay for the plane and hotel as a wedding present if we went with him and his girlfriend. I was okay with that, especially since we hadn't even planned on going. (I actually wanted to try to get him and his girlfriend to elope while there).
THEN, I find out that FH mother wants to come along too. Even though FBIL is paying and coming, it is and always was considered to be our honeymoon. I happen to know from experience, that it wouldn't end with his mother. His father, sister, etc. would all end up going, thinking it was some sort of family vacation. NOT what I had in mind. Plus, they are not the kind of people who would leave us alone in newlywed bliss. We could ask and ask, but there would always be some reason to come knocking on the door. (also known from experience)
I really don't even want to go anymore at this point, I am so aggravated. FBIL and GF are ok, I was fine with that. Not to mention, FMIL hasn't said anything to us, but told everyone else she was coming along. Nothing has been booked or anything yet, so it's not like they would be out money if we changed our minds. I just can't believe that she wants to tag along on our honeymoon without asking, or even mentioning something!
Sorry, for venting, but I just needed to blow off some steam.
