Whatever you do, don't do fondant. It's absolutely awful!

Why is fondant awful? Isn't that the best type design wise

It's best for decorating, but from what I hear, it tastes gross.

I like the third one. But I think I just like it because I like the topper a lot.

I like #3 and #5, because I like the smooth, fondant look. You don't even have to eat/serve the fondant. The bakers should frost the cake with buttercream before they put on the fondant, so when you have your catering people cut and serve the cake, just have them take the fondant off. I know it seems like a ridiculous waste, but if you like the smooth look (like I did), go for it! Don't be discouraged by fondant just because it is not tasty...

and I REALLY like the last girl's idea about taking the fondant off. Doesn't seem like a waste really...if its the cake you like and you don't mind the fondant then you keep it on and your guest can scrap it off...who cares it's your cake do whatever you want!!!
what are your wedding colors?? Number five is beautiful and simple to...I like that

I like #5 because you could even do a white cake with the ribbon accenting in your colors. Plus I like the monogram for a cake topper. That is what I am doing!

I like the 5th one, the blue simple but elegant look. I heard fondant wasn't any good either as far as taste. Talk to your caterer; there are lots of other options for frosting.

I did a cake like the fondant with the ribbons, it had six different kinds of ribbons to get the look the bride wanted I tied them in tiny bows with the ribbons hanging down a little in the back because the cake was going in the corner so instead of "glueing" them with icing and taking the chance they would come "unglued" I tied them, the bride was there during the delivery and liked the bows a lot, the back of the cake be***e the front of the cake, because the back of her dress was bows to cover the zipper she thought it was a sign. It was very pretty. Her topper was the initial R dried in royal icing and painted with antique goldust.
Tip: if you keep the cake inclosed the fondant doesnt harden as much which makes it more soft and it actually tastes better. I had to find a large enough rubbermade container to fit a 16" bottom layer cake that was 3 tiers high, not as easy at it sounds.

I am doing periwinkle and silver. My dress and FH's vest is white. I like the idea, but FH thinks it's a waste of money. That's just how he is, he HATES to spend it! I'm going to meet with a couple of bakers next week, so I'll get some ideas about the icing part of it then.

LMAO!!! He must say those exact words to me at least once a day! I wonder if they do it so we don't fight with them, or to get out of doing anything! ;)
