I'm planning on having my reception in my friends backyard. They have huge trees and also alot of bushes...so I'm going to have just a ton of white christmas lights along with the rope lights and white(poss. some red to) toll.
I'd like the yard to look kinda mystic...like a fairy feel or something along those lines. We are going to be serving appitizers, different types of drinks and of course the cake.
Any ideas on how to make it mystic and also keep it to a lower budget?
there is going to be a dance floor then the "dinning" area...
I was thinking about renting white tents then have lights in side of them... but i'm not sure if i'm going over my head in prices...
we just moved our wedding from Sep to May so I'm doing my best to just breathe and know everything will fall into place...I haven't even been dress fitting!! YIKES!!
thanks for the help!!

Around your dance floor, you could use 5 gallon buckets with a pole in them (use cement or sand or something to get them steady in the bucket). Put them in the corners of the dance floor (paint them to look nice) and string lights around the poles and tulle in a criss cross across the dance floor. Just make sure that they are steady enough not to fall on your guests. What about hanging the round Japanese balls (forgot what they are called) from the trees? You could also wrap lights around the trees and use the netting lights on the bushes.

I am not sure I am envisioning what you are, but when I think of mystic fairies, I think of glitter and sparkles and wings... Can you throw glitter down all over the dance floor? I'm thinking of half a tinkerbell look, half an elvish (think lord of the rings) village.
So depending if you have a great decorator, tulle, glitter, silver and mesh may soften rough edges, and colors are fine as long as they glimmer. Glisten, not bling.

Maybe you could also drape tulle from the tree branches.

Just make sure it doesn't look like someone toilet-papered the trees.... My mom was at a garden wedding in the summer, and they had these metal buckets with branches in them, with lights and tulle around them. Nice idea, in concept, but in the pictures, it looked like someone had wrapped toilet paper around some sticks....!! Not exactly the look she was going for, I think :)
