Remember that I'm getting married in this really kinda "blah" courtyard? Well my FH were discussing yesterday how we could decorate in there to make it more wedding-like. But here's the problem. There are these big blank brick walls surrounding the place. And... well... they're boring. But there isn't any way to really hang things on them. So my FH thought we could get poles and string those curtain lights along them. And just have them right up against the wall so it gives some interest. Well I was looking around, and the kind I need are really expensive.
So any other ideas for dressing up my ugly walls? I don't want it to look tacking in there... but I want it to be somewhat beautiful. I know we are going to wrap white christmas lights and rose petal garland around the trunks of the 3 trees. And we have a lighted wedding arch. But those WALLS!!!! Agh! Anyways, some ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a couple of pictures... if they help at all.

Actually, I think the walls are kind of cute. I like the brick. I think with the lights on the trees and some on the little shrubs, it will look really beautiful.

I like the walls too. But, when my best friend got married, she didn't care much for the walls in her location either, so she rented some trees to help hide them.

I like the light idea. YOu can make really easy things using concrete, buckets and poles and just string the lights between them. You could even do some garland or tulle in the middle just to give it a little more.

Is there somewhere you can find a couple of projectors??? Projectors would be awesome - you can have your names glowing in lights on the side of a wall, or you can show a montage on another... They are really cheap to rent also - and a buddy can run a computer to it, or you can have a slide with your initials or names or a design....

Either that or drape the curtain lights ON the walls... Something to create illumination - if you dont like the brick?

OH! I think the projectors are a great idea! Your names or initials lit up on the brick wall would look so elegant!

this reception place is kinda like the one i was looking at:

i think adding lights to the trees and some tulle around the light posts would be really pretty. you can also do this with the chairs:

around the fountain put some tealights about 1 foot apart from each other around the top, see if they will allow you to put flowers ant the top of fountain.

as far as the walls i kinda like em. i mean they kind of give it that certain look. i cant really describe it,

but the projector thing would be great. here is a link i saw and you can custom make immages too. afterwards you can use it for othr holidays.

If you did actually want to go with the projector idea, you might want to check to see if your local library rents it out.

I know that hotels rent them out since they hold a lot of meetings, but it would be about $100. Maybe more depending on the location. Its still cheaper than a lot of decorations - but the library idea or local university, think community college resource center? Might allow you to do this...

I'm not sure we could really put flowers on top of the fountain. It have water coming out of the top, and we aren't allowed to shut it off. I thought about stringing garland or ribbon around the base of the fountain though.
I like the place in your pictures. It looks WAY better there than it does at my location.

That sounds like a nice idea. Gosh, I'm not sure where to go to rent one though. It would have to create a pretty big image inorder to have any impact.

Thanks girls! Keep the ideas coming. I'm really not satisfied with the brick walls. They may be cute and all... but they are far from my fantasy back drop! LOL!

Think girls! THINK!!!
