Welcome to the boards Christie! :)

I think you just told us your theme right now...the roses. That's what I'm doing, and a couple of other brides. Whatever you choose I am sure it will be beautiful. :)

My wedding is in the summer as well 6-10-06. Our theme is Doves and roses and Cally Lily. Our colors are ivory, silver and light blue. We will be having a Dove Release as a special committment presentation and our roses will be ivory with silver sprayed roses and a touch of ivory cally lily. The bridal party will have ivory & light blue sprayed roses with light blue cally lillies.

As favors I have dove top bubbles, appreciate cards with silver doves, silver dove candles and the bag that the favors are in are ivory with silver doves & roses with our names & date in silver ink. My wishing well is white & silver with white doves & silver accents throughout. Our invites are ivory with silver doves on the cover. Our napkins are warm white with silver doves with our names in silver ink. Our programs will have silver doves with roses on ivory or warm white paper. In addition, I have some pew bows that are ivory & silver with white doves on them.

Hope this helps.

SUMMER WEDDING FAVORS & DECORATION IDEAS

The summer is the most popular time to get married, offering plenty of sunshine and beautiful reception venue options. Summer weddings should be bright and vibrant, celebrating light. Take advantage of scenic outdoor venues where your guests can enjoy breathtaking sunsets and bask in the warm summer breeze.

Keep guests cool by serving lemonade and fresh fruits. Pass out hand fans or miniature parasols as wedding favors to keep your guests stylishly cool, and they will surely appreciate your thoughtfulness.

For an evening celebration during the summer months, decorate the outdoors with mini glass lanterns to add a romantic touch to a warm summer evening.

A tropical, summery location can be the inspiration for your theme. Beach weddings are highly popular in the summer. Present each guest with a pair of adorable flip flop candles or decorate the tables with seashell place card holders. A miniature pail filled with fresh flower petals or pretty seashells is another unique favor idea that will surely impress. Your guests will love these little, creative touches!

For a more idyllic atmosphere, create a simple look with white linens. Invite guests to toss fresh flower petals instead of confetti. Offer the petals in a natural sinamay bag.

Summer wedding ideas that are sure to bring out the fun of the season.
Many a bride and groom plan a happy summer wedding. The long, sun-filled days, the bounty of fresh flowers and foliage coupled with mild, warm weather makes summer the best season to plan special weddings using summer wedding themes. Children are out of school, and families are more likely to be able to travel to a wedding in the summer than any other season. When using summer wedding themes, take advantage of these opportunities for a happy summer wedding.

There are many different summer wedding themes you could incorporate into a wedding. Two of the best summer wedding themes for a happy summer wedding are a ***ping wedding and a picnic wedding.

***ping Wedding
Are you two outdoor enthusiasts? Summer wedding themes were made for you! A ***ping wedding would allow you to invite family and friends to a state park that has amenities such as showers and group gathering areas, and ask guests to bring a tent or ***per and make a whole weekend out of it. Book a row of ***psites so that your whole party will be able to ***p together. There, you will have a happy summer wedding weekend filled with games, swimming, ***pfires and barbecues.

On top of all the usual ***ping fun, you will dedicate one afternoon and evening to your wedding. Preferably you will choose a ***pground that has a picturesque area for a ceremony; perhaps an amphitheater or open grassy area. Invitations could be made in the shape of a tent. Specify on the invitations whether casual attire will be appropriate for the ceremony. The bride may choose to wear a simple, white sundress, or a casual, white linen pants and skirt suit. The groom may wear a casual dress shirt and khaki pants or shorts.

Surround the ceremony area with mosquito netting tied into decorative bows and tiki torches made with citronella candles to keep bugs away. After the ceremony, gather at a meeting area for a barbecue complete with kabobs, burgers, steaks, chicken, salmon, fresh fruit salad, potato salads, other deli salads, wine and beer and wedding cake.

For wedding favors, provide each guest with a gift bag filled with sample sized ***ping necessities: bug spray, a decorative wash cloth, a water bottle, can opener, deck of cards, disposable ***era, sunscreen, etc. After the meal, gather around a ***pfire to tell stories about the bride and groom and roast marshmallows.

Picnic Wedding
A picnic is a great way to gather for a happy summer wedding, and many of the details will be the same as a ***ping wedding. Invitations may be made in the shape of a picnic basket. Pick a park that has such amenities as restrooms, volleyball courts, a beach, horseshoe courts, etc. Reservations for many city and state parks need to be made at least a year in advance.

Tell guests that they will be attending a casual, outdoor wedding. You may provide each guest with a miniature picnic basket, filled with goodies such as a bottle/can opener, chocolates, a Frisbee, bubbles, etc. Decorate the ceremony with trellises wrapped in vines of ivy and fresh flowers. Make sure you have a tent to set up in case of bad weather.

After the ceremony, gather under a covered area to enjoy cheese and crackers, fruit, finger sandwiches, summer salads, fresh fruit and wedding cake. You may even incorporate a barbecue into your picnic wedding. After the ceremony, have group games planned such as volleyball and horseshoes.

Summer wedding thems are always fun, and provide you with a memorable, happy summer wedding that will be the basis for years of happy adventures together.

Midsummer Wedding

Summer remains the most popular wedding season, with warm sunshine and pretty flowers adding to the atmosphere of the occasion. The light and balmy evenings usually keep guests in high spirits celebrating well into the night. For a party to remember we have got lots of ideas on how to make the most of a summer theme, so that even if the weather is unkind you will still have a sunny feel to your wedding day.

Invitations

* A picturesque painting of a summer scene
* A photograph of you both taken last summer
* A card with a single dried rosebud mounted on the front

Bride

* Choose a dress in a cool, lightweight fabric such as chiffon or georgette
* Have your dress decorated with silk roses or have a bright floral printed bodice
* Ask your dress designer about attaching fresh flowers around the neckline of your dress
* Wear flowers in your hair to match your bouquet
* Add some colour to your dress with beading or embroidery
* Go for a short sleeved or strapless dress
* Wear a pair of strappy sandals, and paint your toenails lilac or an equally summery colour

Groom

* Stay cool in the heat with a lightweight suit
* Check out this season's range of linen suits, perfect for summer
* Choose a light coloured suit such as pale grey or cream
* Wear a buttonhole made up of summer flowers to match the bouquets
* Have a themed waistcoat decorated with flowers, butterflies or bees

Bridesmaids

* Pick a summer colour like pastel pink or lilac
* Consider wearing short dresses
* Have floral circlets for your little bridesmaids
* Dress your little flower girls as fairies or pixies

Flowers

* Roses give a very traditional summer wedding feel
* Sunflowers are perfect for a modern summer wedding
* Bright clashing colours and wild flowers look great. Try single African daisies - these are brightly coloured and look startling in a single vase as table centre pieces
* Choose flowers that are naturally in season in the summer like sweet peas and peonies

Cake

* Decorate with your cake with fresh loose rose petals
* Have a garland of fresh flowers around each tier of the cake
* A Croquembouche makes a light alternative to a traditional cake
* Have a cake shaped like a sunshine
* Have a chocolate wedding cake and serve it for dessert with fresh cream and summer berries
* Opt for a white chocolate cake instead of dark to keep with the light colour scheme and to complement the floral arrangements

The reception

* Hold your reception in a marquee for a traditional summer wedding reception
* Hire silk flower arrangements to decorate your venue
* Choose a venue with attractive grounds so that your guests can enjoy being outdoors

Table centres

* Have a huge bowl of summer fruits
* Have an apple or pear on each plate with a name tag on it
* Arrange scented candles around the table

Favours

* Have a selection of peppermints wrapped in tulle
* Make iced cookies in the shape of flowers
* Give your female guests a single rose each

Transport

* Arrive in style in an open carriage
* Hire an open top sports car for the day
* Have an open air double decker bus to transport all your guests to the reception

Food

* Serve drinks outside when your guests arrive
* Have a seafood bar for guests to help themselves to in the evening
* Hold a barbecue in the grounds of your venue
* A cold buffet is a good choice for a hot summer day
* Have a really informal picnic
* Serve individual summer puddings or ice cream for dessert

Drink

* Add a couple of summer berries such as raspberries, red currants or a slice of strawberry to drinks
* Serve pink Champagne or Kir Royal for a touch of colour
* Have a big bowl of punch to greet guests as they arrive at the reception
* Serve lots of cooling non-alcoholic drinks such as elder flower cordial

Entertainment

* Ask your DJ to play a selection of hits with the word summer or sun in them such as Summer Loving and Summertime Blues
* Have music playing in the grounds before guests move into dinner
* Hire a selection of fair ground rides for your guests
* Steel bands provide the perfect summer atmosphere
* Have a reading from A Midsummer Night's Dream

Hey Christie~

I am in the same boat. Mike and I are getting married on 7/14/07 and I am obsessed with finding a theme! I really like sunflowers and thought that would be nice, but I don't know what else to incorporate with that.
The ceremony is going to be outdoors over looking the sierra nevadas and the reception is indoors at a lodge that has a very cozy feeling. The inside has the hard wood floors etc so it can be dressed up really nice or casual.
Any ideas would be great. If I come up with any ideas I will post! Thanks for the help!
