Has anyone been to or planning on going to the Society Islands (Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, etc)? I'm curious who you are booking your trip through and if you feel like you are getting a good deal. We are looking at around $2500 for 7 nights on Moorea and that doesn't include meals, activities, or airfare from Oregon to LA. I looked up meal prices on the two resorts we are looking at (Pearl and InterContinental) and it's going to run $145 a day for 3 meals. So I'm wondering if there are any less expensive local restaurants that we could dine at occasionally or are the restaurants pretty limited on the island? Thanks for your help!

Wow that seems a little steep..but I couldn't really tell you. I know we're going to Italy for our honeymoon and our trip will only be about $3,500-$4,000. That's including airfare for both of us, first class hotel room and half of our food. Plus all of the activities are included in the price too. Have you been to a few different travel agents yet? Sometimes the time of year depends a lot on the price too. Maybe if you shop around a bit you can find a better deal. I will see if I can find anything for you.

I know it might sound a little "cheap" but you CAN make it fun! There has to be a grocery store around that you can visit soon after you get there, if not the first day, then go the second. Pick up an inexpensive ice chest and some items for breakfast, lunch and snacks. Also, get your juice, sodas and adult beverages at the store. This will not only save you a ton of $$$ on restaurant/room service charges but it'll save you a lot of time too. This way you can have breakfast in bed, picnic lunches on the beach and drinks whenever you want them. Save your dining out time and money for romantic dinners.
We do this all the time and I love it!

I love the idea of a picnic on the honeymoon. So romantic. I've done the grocery store thing on vacation. It's great because you want to get out and explore instead of being stuck in a restaraunt. It's a great way to save money and eat on the go.
