Hello, my fiance and I are planning a fall themed wedding for October 1, 2005. We would like an outdoor location with the option of going inside for about 70-100 people. We live in Southwest Michigan and would love to have it here. The only problem is we are having trouble finding good locations. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

hi willo,
How strange - I live in SW MI as well. There are a bunch of great places. I am getting married this June out at Heart of the Vineyard. It would be a beautiful place for an October wedding as well and a tent in the vineyard. There is an amazing Amish "barn" - no, not a barn per say - for indoor activities that has a beautiful copper bar. Check it out. www.heartofthevineyard.com
Also, there is a wedding show at LMC on January 31st. It's amazing - go to www.myweddingworld.com to register. There will be a ton of SW MI vendors there and lots of people to ask about locations.
Hope this helps.

My fiance and I are originally from St. Joseph, MI and are having a reception there in November (we're getting married on the beach in South Carolina). There are several great places. The Pavilion at Silver Beach in St. Joe, The Heart of the Vinyeard is absolutely gorgeous! For receptions - we are probably going with The Park Inn Conference center in Stevensville. But the Boulevard is great, the Clarion has a great banqeuet room. LMC has several options. Please feel free to contact me if you would like some additional info. Courtney - cad6286@hotmail.com
Congrats and good luck!

Hi Courtney, I sent you an email inquiring about ideas. My fiance and I are seriously considering St. Joe as a wedding/reception location, but have no idea where to start as neither of us are from there. Please advise! madeline@livebaitproductions.com.

I'm having a couple problems: I've found my reception site, but still can't find the ceremony site, and also I have NO CLUE where to start with my colors for the wedding. My fiance's cousin is getting married 4 months before us and she already has the colors picked that I was going to pick, so now I don't wanna pick them. I'm kinda stuck....any help anyone?

First of all, congrats on your upcoming nuptials!! Now, what area do you reside and have you checked any of the places of worship near your reception site? Have you officially booked your reception area or is it your 1st pick because of certain features...given the same features somewhere else, would you be just as happy? Could you possibly do your ceremony at the reception site (this works great w/smaller guest lists)? Either way, if you haven't considered some of these questions, maybe you have a couple more options. Now, in regards to your colors for the special day - taste the rainbow! Who cares if the cousin's going to have the same colors - if they're the colors you've always envisioned in your wedding - then they're YOUR colors. For a slight variation you might consider either raising or lowering your hues. Also, are the colors you have in mind a good match for your hair and skin tones - will they accentuate you and your bridal party's best features in photos. Are they colors that are hard to accessorize either with jewelry or your decorations? These are just a few questions to roll around in your pretty head - and don't panic - you still have a little time left. Heck, if all else fails - you two could always elope and then return to celebrate with family/friends during a reception. Whatever you choices - have fun with it. Good Luck. :D

Even though it will be chilly in October (probably.. who knows in Michigan!), I think a wedding by the lake would be incredible. There are nice halls in St. Clair Shores by the lake.
Also, the country clubs such as the Wolverine are beautiful. I remember going to the Wolverine for my junior prom. It had a gorgeous garden, and the inside ballroom that we were in had a glass wall with a complete view of the garden. In fall with the leaves colors, that would be awesome!
There are also very nice bed and breakfast type places that you may want to check out. Or a park such as Stony Creek, the historic towns such as Greenfield or Crossroad Village, etc. Your options are endless!
Good luck!
