me and my FH just got approved to build a house this week. We are going to sign the contract tomorrow which is so exciting. We are also planning a wedding for early 07! I know we are not going to be able to afford a major honeymoon because of all the things we are in the middle of doing. Does anyone have any ideas where to go in the US that arent that expensive, maybe we can even drive to??? It's just that we have way too many things going on right now to go on a cruise or anything like that. Any ideas will help :) thanks!

Go could just go to a local bed and breakfest. We are getting a cabin for 5 days which will only cost us $800. If you like camping, you could drive about an hour or so from where you live and do something like that. There are a lot of cheaper alternatives. I think that it's wonderful that you are deciding to go for your house than a honeymoon. You can always take a better honeymoon down the line for your 5th anniversary.

I personally LOVE the Keys, especially Key West. If you shop around you can get a reasonably good deal. Or go for a different approach, head north and check out some locations in the mountains. That coul dbe gorgeous depending on the time of year. Check out www.expedia.com or www.travelocity.com they have nice vacation packages to look at. But, because you have over a year you will need to look at proces for 2006. Just figure about a 5% markup.

It is really pretty and calm. Which, I imagine since you will have just finished planning a wedding AND you will be building the house, you will want some relaxation more than some action. The beaches are nice and PERFECT for long bike rides. Of course, I haven't been over their lately, so I don't know how their beaches stood up to last years hurricanes.

After our wedding this August we went camping with most of our out of town guests. It was great, like a weekend wedding and we really got to visit with people who I wish lived closer and I saw more often. After that my husband and I returned to our new how (which he had been living in for a mont alone). We moved all my stuff in and got settled in our new home. This allowed us to enjopy the simple things of being married. Now that I'm getting settled into the new state I'm thinking about the honeymoon. I think with all the big things going on in out life, I'm glad we waited to get away.
