Is anyone planning on getting married in Vegas? I was completely against the idea at first, but my FH said that it has always been his dream to get married there. I am starting to warm up to the idea, especially since we would only have a couple of our closest family and friends, (NO DRAMA!!! YES!!!) and no meddling mothers to worry about. I've looked online and found a couple of the hotels that have very nice wedding facilities in them, as well as the cheesy chapels and drive-thru services. Do you all have any thoughts on this or experience to share? I was also thinking of having a small casual reception when we get back home to celebrate with everyone that didn't attend the wedding. What do you think?

I got married through The Little Chapple Of Flowers and they have tons of wedding packages to choose from. Look them up on the web. I got married on Lake Las Vegas and it was gorgeous!! Lake Las Vegas is about 30-45 minutes outside of Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada. They did a great job. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I saw them online and was wondering about it. I guess it opened my eyes to the fact that I can still have something elegant and we get to party in Vegas! Plus, then we both get something we want, instead of making it all about me.

you can look at some of the major hotels too. they have pleanty of options. I gave in to my boyfriend (yes boyfriend he hasnt asked) to go to vegas, but he had to agree for me to pick the place. Im having a hard time deciding, but since we are going down there this december for vacation we could always look at what i have seen so far. oh i got off tract, you can go to legas.com or some of the other sites, and get hotel info. then just go to the hotel or chapel websites. They should be able to help you out a lot.

like for instance if you want a particualr cake just email them and ask if the baker can do this. send them a pic.

and a lot of them have brochures that you can download to look at. or even have a form for you to request info.

i hope this helps.

I live in Vegas and we chose to have our wedding at Valley of Fire, a state park about an hour and a half away. We thought about Red Rock Canyon, too, which is only a half hour away. Both are gorgeous outdoor places to get married near Vegas.

If you go with a hotel, I would choose one of the newer, popular ones, like Bellagio, Paris, Venitian, Wynn...They have beautiful ceremony sites and great hotel rooms.

The little chapels are OK, too, but they are a little more on the cheesy side.

I think I would definately go with one of the newer hotels. A couple of them have a nice garden area where you can get married outside, instead of inside a chapel. Although some of the smaller chapels are nice, it would be nicer, and easier, to get married in the same hotel we are staying at. Besides, even though you are paying for the service, room, airfare and such, it is still cheaper than paying for the reception only around here. Plus, when we get back, we can have a casual reception back home. No fuss = no drama!

We wanted to go get married in Vegas, but my sister refused to come because it would cost too much for her, her husband and two kids to fly out there and I can't imagine not having my family there when I get married. So, we nixed that idea. I did do some research and I really loved some of the wedding packages at the Venetian. You could actually get married in a gondola if you wanted to, which I thought was cool.

Elaine, I love it that you are getting married in the Valley of Fire...that was my and Dave's favorite place we went to see when we went to Vegas a couple of years ago.

I think I'm lucky because my MOH doesn't have kids and wants to go to Vegas too. I'm gonna leave my son here at home with my mom, because it will be our honeymoon too. Other than that, my brother and dad will be there and that's it! Since we are having a reception back home, I want to keep my side very small. My dad was mad that I didn't want my mom to be there, but this way there will be no drama. He is planning on having a couple friends and maybe his parents. But mostly, it's just gonna be the few of us. At first I was totally against the idea, but after hearing all the drama going on with the "traditional" weddings, I think this is goinna be much better.

that is one of the reasons why i decided to say ok to vegas. I dont want any drama, and i dont want my mother to get out of control and embarass me.

EXACTLY!!!! lol My mom tends to say catty things when she drinks. My cousin, (MOH) who she doesn't like will be there, along with my dad, (divorced). I don't need her causing problems. She can stay home and watch my son, and we will have the fun!

I attended my first Vegas wedding just last month. The wedding was for my best friend. She had her reception at The Little White Chapel (the same place where Brittney Spears had her infamous wedding).

At first I was appalled that she was going to get married there, but I kept an open mind and ended up being very surprised at how nice of a ceremony and facility it was. At first it felt like a wedding factory, with brides coming and going every 15-20min., but once we were inside of the chapel and the priest started the ceremony it didn't seem unusual at all.

Bellagio is beautiful, especially in the atrium. They also have a glass dome garden by atrium. I went there with my mom last year, and was thinking if I ever get married in VG, that will be the place.

My son and his wife actually married in one of the chapels and it was all very nice. The huge problem though was the traffic! We had to leave our hotel, pick up some party platters and then go to the ceremony; I was the last to arrive and held up the whole ceremony. The conventions there tie up the traffic something terrible, I'd go for the ceremony and reception all at the same hotel that you and your guests will be staying at.

You'll all have a great time!

That was the one I was leaning towards. But we have time, so I don't have to make a decision yet. I was very surprised at how nice their facility was. I learned that Vegas is more than just small quickie chapels, you can have almost anything you want. Even though I would rather not get married by Elvis, my FH wants to have one there, so we may just hire one to be there for entertainment, (his entertainment!).

I'm planning a wedding in Vegas too for next year!! We are finding it really difficult to decide on locations! At the moment its at Caesars Palace in an outdoor ceremony then going onto Four Seasons for reception, does anyone have feedback on any of these?? Been to Vegas once before and loved Caesars but have never been to Four seasons, thought this would be more elegant to finish the day!!?? Live in the UK so having to organise it all over the net so very stressful, any advice would be welcome????

One thing I noticed about Vegas is that you can get anything you want! They will cater to your every whim. So don't worry. I went on Vegasweddings.com and ended up being contacted by every wedding planner and travel agent in the city! If you want, contact someone local that can help you plan and give you an insight to the city. Good luck!

Yeah, you'll be fine. Between the calls and the stuff in the mail, I will have more than enough resources to do this. But in my case, I am going to take care of everything myself because I am here in the states. Good luck!

In Vegas there are at least at lot of choices too.

My Fiance and I have stayed at MGM before- while it isn't as posh as some of the newer places it does hace one thing the other places don't- lions in the middle of it! I'm a big fan of lions.

We'll have to look at the different places and what they offer- would definitely want it in one of the big hotels because then everyone could just stay there. And could have my own kind of cake and stuff, etc.

And its easier than fighting a turf war over here.

We stayed in the MGM too, and I loved it!!! I loved their pools, it was so nice to "float in the river" part. Bart thought we would get married at one of the chapels, but I nixed that idea. Now, we are going to get married locally.

I want to have a nice tiny wedding in vegas and stay the week as a quasi honeymoon. We're going to throw a semi-reception when we return. We haven't started planning just yet, but I'm glad to see that many other people are into it too. I was nervous that it would be all elvisy and tacky.

Its so beautiful!!!! I am kinda lost when it come to who pays for what... do they pay for the trip or do we? Do we pay for the rooms or do they? I am so lost... HELP!!!!

My fiance and I are looking at venues in vegas now. I was looking online at different places last night, and was surprised, for example, to see that paris was all booked up. I think that traditionally, you are supposed to pay for your attendant's room, but I might be wrong about that one. That is definitley going to be one factor in our choice- the cost of rooms. The venetian was pricier than I liked, for example. So Now I am seriously looking at the MGM, Luxor, Caesar's, Mirage (if they offer weddings, couldn't find anything on their page), and mandalay bay. Though I am not as likely to go with mandaly bay just because and caesar's costs more than I would like for the package, but it does offer the outside stuff and it looks truly lovely, so it does have that going for it.

We are going to set a rough date in a day or two when FH gets back from Michiagan visiting family. We have also been talking about wedding party and who to invite and all that. For wedding party we are thinking to siblings and one friend each. keep it nice and small. Not invite a lot of people either- just family and a few friends. And then have a reception back in illinois and invite everyone to that. And I think I might just wear the wedding dress to the reception too!

Mirage actually does not have a wedding chapel! they don't do weddings, only receptions. And I decided I don't like Mandalay bay well enough. So that leaves Luxor MGM and Ceasors. Wynn and Bellagio, of course, seemed lovely, but they were too expensive for us. So I will talk with FH. See what he thinks, he might also think of other places I am forgetting, he has been to Vegas more than I have.

I just got married on April 2nd at Treasure Island Hotel. Everything went wonderful! We had the reception at Kahunaville in the hotel and it was so fun. They have flair bartenders and elvis even ***e and went around the restaraunt. Elvis even had us go on stage and do a spotlight dance. This has a very classy chapel and the packages are reasonable compared to the Wynn, Venetian, and Paris. We got the package with the Tower Suite. My advice is to get the suite! It is worth it.

Hi yankeecad. I am actualy getting married this summer at treasure island and thinking about having my reception at kahunaville. I was hoping you could maybe fill me in on some of the details. Did you have yours inside out outsiade? What package did you chose? I was thinking of going with the Option 1 buffet package and a two hour bar. How were the decorations? Is the food worth the price. Sorry, so many questions. I am just confused over the whole deal. If you can help please let me know. thanks michelle

We're getting married at the Paris in March. They have some really nice packages and it's far less hassle. Turns out we are still having over 60 people coming though... Goodness... Originally I thought there would be far less but everyone loves Vegas so they all want to come. What the heck.. the more the merrier. We are having a reception in the Penthouse suite following the ceremony.

How did everything go with your Vegas Wedding???? Mine is 2/14/07 and I still do not know where to start. It should be very simple because I want an evening wedding and small cocktail reception for approx 20 guests ($1,000 budget). There are soooo many different choices that I am lost!

I was thinking about Las Vegas too, but decided to do a small beach wedding in St. Thomas. The marriage license part is easy like you don't have to get a blood test or wait forever to get your license. And the service I found is totally affordable with our wedding dress and tuxedo included in the wedding packages. Check it out for an alternative to Vegas.
