I thought of some advice for honeymooners using timeshare while I was at work today (I work at a resort and have a degree in Hospitality Management)...
If you are planning on using a timeshare exchange (commonly a gift from a family member), call the resort that you are booked into ahead of time. In fact, before the exchange is even made, you can have the exchange company put the unit they are offering you on hold. Get the unit number from the exchange company, then call the resort itself. Ask ANYTHING you want to know. What is the view? Is there a balcony? What size is the bed? What is the square footage? And get the name of the person you talked to. Then call your exchange company back to confirm the reservation. This way there are no surprises when you arrive at your honeymoon destination.
I only thought of this because we had 2 couples check in to our resort today that were both on their honeymoon. One couple was thrilled with their room, the other was extremely disappointed. They had the exact same type of room, but obviously came with different expectations.
