I am getting married on 2-28-04. I am pretty much alone when it comes to planning the wedding. I have booked my reception hall already and I am now beginning to plan my reception. My colors are burgandy and white. I am not having any floral arrangements there (too expensive. I hane never planned or help plan a wedding in my life and have no idea as far as what kind of decorations I want. Does any body have any cheap ideas that hasn't been used a lot? Thanks!

Hi
Im getting married on 11-01 of this year.. yes it getting close and im getting nervous. My fiancee and I are paying for everything ourselves and money is tight however i have found a few ways to have a nice wedding and keep it on a budget. One of the things we did for the centerpieces is to have a fishbowl and wrap it in tulle. Tie it with the ribbon that matches your color scheme and light a candle in it.. Its beautiful... the tulle shimmers when the light is reflected from it. Hope this helps

Hey!
Never underestimate candles! You could buy some inexpensive cloth in a burgandy shade and cut it into squares. Tie the corners with pretty white ribboned bows and place it in the center of the tables. You can put a single pillar candle in the center or three of differing heighths. Scented pillars will add a nice aroma to the environment and will be enjoyed by your guests. Later, when you burn the leftover candles, you will be remined of your wedding day! Wicks N' Sticks (I work there!) carries white pillars with the scent Flower Market and a Burgandy shade in Mandrian Spice. The candlelight would be romantic and should be inexpensive. Best of Luck to you!

I am getting married 11/15/03 on the beach and I bought 12 of those wicker paperplate holders, put clear contact paper on the inside(easy), hot glued lace around the edge and bought 12 burgandy candles for the center. When we get to the beach, I will get some sand, put the sand around the candle, put a few shells in the sand around the candle. I am picking air plants out of the trees and will put these around the base of the candle. It really looks good. For 12 table centerpieces I spent less than $25. It could have been cheaper but I opted for the taller candles. The shells I got at the dollar store. Got 3 baskets of shells for $1 each from the everythings a dollar store, so the shells are already clean. I also went to a local place that sells shells and bought 35 that are like small concks for $19, melted some vanilla candles I got for 5/$1 and cut wicks ($1.89 WalMart) and repoured the melted wax into the shells. I had bought some of those pearls on stems, cut them in half stuck one in each shell. They are adorable. This will be favors for each of the guest. I had alot of scallop shells here so I put our names the date and place of wedding on the inside of them with fine tip markers. Hot glued lace around the outside, glued a magnet on the back, wahla.....fridge magnets.
Hope this will help.

For my sister's wedding, we made a bunch of hearts out of essentially twigs. If you get thin, green (fresh off the tree) branchs from a willow tree, you can bend them into shape and hold them together with a little bit of wire. Use a few branches on each side of the heart, and add some nice fabric ribbon in your wedding colors. These turned out really nice, and we gave them to various people who helped out with the wedding, many of whom still have them up on their walls at home.
The one problem with this is that it takes time, so you will need to find someone who is willing to help you put them together, or maybe work on them in front of the TV.

Congrats! I am also getting married in February---the 14th. We thought about the valentines theme but it was all to expensive. I went to Menards and bought 12 x 12 mirror tiles for the center of each table ($15.00), then went to dollar tree and picked out colored stem glasses($15.00) to match my colors then I made my own gel candles using the glasses. The gel I colored a light gold with a rose scent. I have 32.00 in the gel but you can get it cheaper on the net.

Have you ever been to the Dollar Tree? They frequently sell glass votive candle holders - 2 for $1.00. You can buy nice looking votive candles in most colors at WalMart.
Also at WalMart are artificial flowers anywhere from 86 cents to $5.00. You can put flowers in vases for centerpieces as well. No one will ever know that you hardly paid anything for your decorations. Good luck

I saw a neat idea at the place that I am renting my linens etc from. In one of the pictures the owner showed us, the bride had put a stack of 'presents' in the center of the tables. They were wrapped in wrapping paper that matched her colors and they hed these beautiful ribbons around them. It really wouldn't cost that much either, all you need is some different sizes of empty cardboard noxes, some different colors of wrapping paper and ribbon.

In the center of each table I used 12x12 mirror tiles which can be purchased in a box at Lowe's or Home Depot. I used small glass bowls that were 98 cents each from Garden Ridge (smooth or with ridges for the candle light to dance through). I filled the bowls with water and placed a white floating candle in each vase. You could use a little greenery around the bottom of each bowl or spinkle confetti (silver, gold, or in your wedding colors) around the bottom of each bowl. Instead of confetti, sprinkle pretty glass stones on the mirror around each bowl. These stones can be purchased in craft shops or even in Big Lots! Happy wedding day!
