So, we are trying to decide what to do for our honeymoon. We have toyed with a bunch of different ideas and just can't make up our minds. We orginally thought an all inclusive maybe in Cozumel or Cancun. Then we decided a Cruise may be the way to go. Now, we are toying with doing Lake Tahoe/Reno because it is beautiful at Tahoe and we have the gambling, which we enjoy in Reno. Anyone have any thoughts/advice as to which idea might be better?

Hi Patty,
I would either do the all-inclusive or Tahoe, but it really depends on what activities you like. Some things to think about:
Have you ever been on a cruise before? I think cruising takes a certain kind of personality that I just don't have. Although I enjoyed going on shore, I got bored on the ship (no pool games for me, thanks) and annoyed at the big bar tab we ran up. I am very active, and like having things to do. But, the food was quite good and they had a cool martini bar...My point is that if you don't know you that you like cruises, I might not choose it for a honeymoon.
I'd pick Cozumel over Cancun, but again, that depends. I am 36 and although I can party with the best, Cancun doesn't appeal to me anymore. I went there when I was 24 with some girlfriends and had a blast, but to me, it's not romantic. I went to Jamaica and did an all-inclusive this past February, and it is great not having to worry about carrying around cash. I would do it again.
Lake Tahoe would be great if you are outdoorsy people (in addition to the gambling; I like blackjack myself).
Hope this helps a little!

Thanks for the reply. I definately see your point and that was kind of my concern with the cruise, are we going to have a high alcohol bill and what is there to do on board? We aren't really nightclub type people and tend to be pretty active on our vacations. I was kind of liking Tahoe for that reason, lots to do and see. I have been told snowmobiliing up there is really cool and should have enough snow at the end of November for that to work....decisions decisions.

I don't know if you have officially made up your mind or not. I think there are all sorts of different cruises to go on. I know we thought about doing the adventure cruise or something like that. Alot of them have lots to do on board and they port often. I personally have never been on a cruise and my FH doesn't like water so thats out for us. Check out their websites. I know alot of them offer amazing views and things you just can't see from shore!
You never know you may love it!

I think Lake Tahoe sounds fun but are you looking for a little romance for your honeymoon? If so, I would recommend Cozumel or the Mayan Rieviera. I have been to Cancun three times and love it but I wouldn't honeymoon there, it is too busy and fast paced. Cozumel and the Mayan Riviera both have activities and nightlife so you can stay busy but they are more laid back so you can sit back and enjoy each other a little more. As far as cruises go, I personally do not care much for them. There are so many people and the cabins are pretty small. They do not have that much privacy which you may want for your honeymoon! Hope I could be of help!

My FH and I are doing the usual for Canadian honeymooners.. we are going to an all inclusive resort anywhere south! :D
WE just want to be lazy together WITHOUT THE KIDS!., It will be the ONLY week we can forsee having without them, so we don't to do much other than lay around holding each other and sitting by a pool/ocean sipping this and that exotic drink.
Hey.. you don't always have to do much to have fun. During are normal lives we are ALWAYS running around to parks and trails. Our lives are one big adventure, so we want something else for our honeymoon! lol

Lake Tahoe is GORGEOUS. My boyfriend is originally from out there and worked as a ski instructor near Truckee (north lake), and I had my first trip out there this summer for a family wedding. There are also casinos along the Nevada Line... they are not superb from what I understand and have been about casinos. (but all I had ever seen before that was Atlantic City NJ... so who knows)
We were out there for 10 days and it was fantastic. You may be able to ski at some places... and even if not... the ski resorts are all over and you can enjoy the beautiful sites.... Oh, and if you can -- just check out the stars-- it gets really dark there unlike so many places, and we spent most evenings out star gazing with his 4 year old niece-- you would not beleive how many shooting stars there are!
If you are looking for somewhere to laze around in a bikini and drink umbrella drinks it may not be the best choice... but for hiking around and enjoying the outdoors... it can't be beat!
I also second the thoughts on Cancun/Cozumel... Cancun is great for college kids, but you may not want the drink til you puke atmosphere that seems to be so prevalent there now. If you go to the area-- they are calling it the "riviera maya" these days... try and stay out of Cancun proper-- there are adult only resorts, including some all inclusive ones there that may fit what you want better. My best friend went there in the beginning of June for her honeymoon and had a great time-- I forget the place she stayed-- but it was somewhere all-inclusive.
If you are at all of the "nerd" kind-- I really recommend getting out to some of the Mayan ruins and climbing around on them-- there are tons of day trips to them, especially to Chichen Itza-- It even has a pyramid you would not beleive. There are great nature preserves and you can snorkel, and snorkel in caves- its just beautiful.
So... both good choices, you just need to decide if you want to wear just a swimsuit or have somewhere a little cooler and more fit for curling up in front of a fire.
