This may have a thread already but I was wondering if anyone knows of some places to get a mother dress for my mom, we have been searching for weeks and I am getting married a month from tomorrow! It is taking longer to pick a dress for her than I took to find my wedding gown!! She doesn't want the ones that look like a grandma dress. She likes the current styles. Any help would be great, Thanks a bunch!! :)

You could always do the sometimes dreaded Davids bridal they did have some neat ones there.

I bought mine at JC Penney's - online! I searched all sorts of places, I hate that matronly look most of the dresses have. When searching, look for "Special Occasion" dresses. I ended up getting my dress for the wedding and rehearsal dinner thru JCP. Their catalog store is fairly close so I just had the dresses delivered to my office and they arrived within a few days. Good luck!

I suggest JcPenny's speciall occassion dresses. They have nice dresses. My mom likes to shop at boutiques, so we will be going to her favorite boutique to find her dress. However, we are getting my Future MIL dress from JcPenney's.

My next big challenge is to help my Mom find a dress. She doesn't want a suit type dress....soooo...guess we have to start looking.

I picked out my mom's dress for her at the store where I work. I felt she needed some help because she kept trying on chiffon dresses... and well, they looked awful on her. No offense to my mom or anything, but chiffon is not a very forgiving fabric. Anyways, the dress I picked out for her is a nice pretty blue (her favorite color) and a nice sturdier fabric to help hide some things. I'm not kidding... this dress mades her look like she has a figure! Well, since I like it... of course my mom hates it. She bought the dress but continues to try on other dresses just to annoy me. But... this is besides the point. I would look at department stores. You would be surprised what you can find in the formal sections. ;)

Try searching the same places that you'd look for a bridesmaid dress. Many of them have MOB dresses and she might even be able to find a bridesmaid dress that looks younger but is still dressy enough.
She may also want to consider wearing a suit... my photographer was very surprised to see my mom in one instead of a dress, but... she's not a dress person. I found some great ones by Kasper when I was looking for one for her.

My mother got her mom's dress from http://www.audreysmotherofthebride.com. Hope this is not too late and will be a help to your mother.
