MINE IS!

I went to another wedding site forum to check it out and see what was happening over there. It was a good site, but I went to this section they had. It was called the ucking fugly dresses, so I thought I check it out. Well turns out my dress was one of the ones on the list.

IS IT UGLY? TELL THE TRUTH, CAUSE I NEED THE TRUTH! THEY JUST CALLED ME TO SAY ITS IN. SHOULD I PICK IT UP? I LIKE IT! :(

Is your dress ugly too?

That makes me feel so much better. I was about to show Patrick to see if he hated it too, and that would just ruin the surprise. Maybe I'll go pick it up then!

That dress is beautiful. But my opinion doesn't matter in the long run...it's what you like. You can't go by what others like or dislike.

I think that dress is very pretty. Pintucks used to bother me, but they're really growing on me lately. It really doesn;t matter what anyone else says, what you feel most beautiful in is what you'll be most beautiful in. Under no circumstances should you ruin the surprise for your FH. Go pick up the dress that you love and will be beautiful in, and don't worry about that thread. Its all about being catty anyway. LOL

This is far from being an ugly dress. Some dresses are "ugly" because of the person wearing it - the way a person carries themselves attitude-wise can make them and anything they wear, do, or say ugly. You and your dress will be beautiful! :)

It's not ugly at all! Everyone has different tastes and someone is bound to not like it, but it is a beautiful dress! On some wedding boards I've been on, some people just hate Maggie gowns, just because of the designer and because "everyone wears them", but honestly, I didn't even know the designer of my gown at first until I got onto the wedding boards and everyone I've known personally that got married bought their gowns at David's Bridal. That dress is very beautiful and very popular! Just out of curiosity, where did you find the site with the "ugly dresses"?

No-that dress is beautiful!! In fact, I tried that same dress on. The only reason I didn't want it is because it took 20 minutes to get into with all the lacing up in the back and it was a little bit more than I wanted to spend. But it was beautiful!! What site is this, I want to see what other dresses are in there...

I know, there's a ton of lacing! But every time she pulled on it tighter, there went the tummy

Ok, when I first saw this dress on the model, I thought "eew."

I have since seen many photos of this and the caprimarie on real brides, and I do have to say that I definitely like this dress! It looks amazing on everyone...

I say do it! :) You are going to be beautiful!

No, your dress is beautiful.

Try not to let their strange opinions about beauty change your mind about the dress you already decided is beautiful. It's your opinion that matters, not theirs or ours.

OMG! I just tried on the same dress yesterday and my mom fell absolutely in love w/ it. At first I wasn't sure cuz I wasn't crazy about the pleats ( I had a bad experience in a dress similar, that wasn't a Maggie), but as I stood in it, it started to grow on me and I love it. A part of me is still a little scared of it though. I was actually going to come to this site to ask the same exact question. The dress is the CapriMarie though:

That's so funny! My mom and everyone else fell in love with it too, and I couldn't take it off, it was too confortable and it swayed, haha I like them when they sway. On the other site, a lady bought the same one you like, and I saw pics of her in it...looks so good. I wanted a dress that didn't look like all the rest, something different you know. But simple on top, I did't want my arms scrapping against beaded work or anything. I had to order a dress that was twice the size of me, I'm a 6, and my ****s are ginormous, so I had to get a 12, just to fit my ****s in, but that dress sure did push them up to my chin! Thank goodness for the corset! Did you buy it?

Hey, I tried that dress on too! I love Maggie dresses. I loved the dress... I thought it was cute, unique, and sexy all at the same time. :) It wouldn't work with my wedding though... I'm having a outdoor wedding and I felt it was a little bit too much. Now if I was getting married in a church though, I think it would be an awesome dress!

I thought about wearing a thinner, less of a dress cause I'm having an outdoor wedding as well...but I look absolutely hideous in slanky dress, I need to hold my ****s up! But I figured since it was a night wedding it would work. Have you tried on Demetrios dresses...wow now those are really big and full of underneathe clutter. That's the worst thing is to be outside and sweating on your wedding day! I really hope that doesn't happen to me. I'm having a July night wedding. Oh I hope not. It's a very traditional southern style dress, and my place is exacly that. So it works, at least. We will instal outdoor fans, haha I wish!

OMG I feel so bad because I think you mean my site, as a matter of fact there was a big deal about that particular dress because one your dress twin was very upset about it and I had to close the thread. If you want I can link you to it when I find it. But just because some people think your dress is ugly doesn't mean it's ugly in general, it just means that that particular person didn't like it, it only takes one post to post a dress so that was probably the opinion of only a one to 3 people and who the hell cares what they think anyway?

You saw my dress and can you believe a girl at the knot said that my dress was ugly? well she did and I didn't take it personally because everyone has different tastes, that's why there are a gazillion designers out there.

Please do not feel that your dress is ugly, I think your dress is beautiful and a lot of the girls on bbb love pintuck dresses. Just please enjoy your gown and ebrace the beauty of it whether other people like it or not. I am so sorry. Please Kiki come back :(

I definetly did not show my hurt as much as she did, but I understood where she was coming from as well as all the other ladies. It is a fine line when it comes to styles and peoples opinions on them. Good thing you locked it because, there was a constant battle going on back and forth, and when it gets that bad, then its just not good for the site anymore.

But don't you worry, I still love the site!

Gen - I just went to your Bio, and saw the last picture, of the wedding dress..... LOL!! That is almost exactly the dress that my MOH wore in her first wedding, 8 years ago!! AHAHHAHAHA... She got the dress, accessories & a billion decorations from a woman for $200. She hated it, but she wore it cause they were busted broke. I think, in the end, she ended up throwing it in a dumpster....after the divorce!

Good! I haven't posted any with me in it, cause I look like *** when I tried it on, my hair wasn't done and ewwww. I'm also too lazy to scan them in cause I don't have any digital pics of them, but I'm going this Wed. to pick it up in LA, so I will take pics and post them. I saw another bride in the same dress, well the caprimarie, and she looked soooo good. Can't wait to see you in yours!

Haha, I'm kinda prepared, well just on some things. I bought my dress 4-5 months ago, they said it would take 6-8 months to get in. It didn't take that long! Good! But I need major alterations...I had to get a 12 cause of my ****s, then bring it in to a 6/8. It has the ties in the back, so hopefully we can just pulled it really tight to make it smaller!

I was kinda affraid last night, cause I did'nt do much in the past 6 months, and I have 11 months to go, and I have a lot to do, and no time! We'll see how I do! Bust at least I'll have the dress, haha. :D

Wait... it's a *corset* and you had to fit it to your top, not your bottom? That... doesn't sound right at all. You can let the corset out to losten the top... that usually doesn't affect the bottom at all... Anyways... just thought that was strange, but I'm sure they know what they're doing and you're gonna look awesome in it.

(I'm a 32E and wore a size 8 and the beauty about it was that the bottom fit perfectly and... when I bought it at least, the top could be left a little looser... I lost weight in the hospital... unfortunately not in the chest :( ... so the top actually ended up being a little big too.)

You know what, that's what I thought, but it seemed to just not cover enough and my ****s were coming out. I wear a 32D, and it was incredible the cleavage you could see. But I'll see how it works tomorrow, and let you know.

Huh... I guess it just depends on the dress... I know one of the ones I tried made me look like I had little ****s coming out of my armpits :p

Take pictures tomorrow... I can't wait to see you in the dress! I hate french bustles, which is what the dress, quite honestly, reminds me of, but... I actually kinda like that one... and I think the busyness of the bottom is absolutely perfect for people cursed like us... I remember being a 32D... I hated it then (too big; NO I didn't get a **** job), but... I so wish I could have those guys back again... I would actually be able to buy a bra at more than one store in this stupid city!

And a correction, I'm a 32F, not E... that was a little easier as well...

I just stumbled across a web site for ugly dresses. Bridal dresses, bridesmaids, they've even got shoes & tuxes. And I was curious. What I noticed was this. Many, many, many of the dresses were over 15 years old! I recognized some of them as prom dresses that I thought were beautiful in the mid 80's!

So my question is this.... If it wasn't ugly then, can it be ugly now? Or isn't it just dated....?

Tastes change. So, yes, I think that it can be ugly now if it wasn't ugly then. You don't wear your hair the same as you did in th 80s, do you? :p Same reasoning behind it.

I left the site yesterday at page 4 and you ladies bumped it up to page 6 with all your wonderful comments. You gals make wedding planning so much more fun and easier. My girls ***e over to see it on me, and they said the pictures don't do it justice. At the bridal store, this one bride's mom said "what bra are you wearing, cause my daughters ****s don't do that" I responded, "Hun, I'm not wearing one." I was sold once more! Oh and they mentioned that I look way skinny in it, haha, ok now I'm just way happy! You ladies are awesome making me feel good about my dress and the way I look in it! Thanks for everything! I really loved how the dress fit, but it wasn't me. I wouldn't have to ask so much about it, if I knew it was the one & it wasn't.
It was Maggies, CapriMarie.

SO I choose to go w/ a champagne gown, but undecided on which to choose. The pics are in my bio.

WOW, that dress looks identical to mine, thats a good match! I even love the pin tuck decoration pieces. Your other dress is very simple and elegant, I like that one just as much. Have you decided on a dress yet?

No I haven't I'm going to try them both on tomorrow and make my decision then. I know. I remember the big debate about that dress on here. I saw this on e-bay without even looking and I was blown away by the guy who makes them. It's not even an original Demetrios

I love this dress it the one i bought for my wedding it's so beautiful trust me it fits so cute. My mother said the same thing and then when she saw it on me she loved it and now i have it for my wedding in may. dont listen to what others say about it. ILOVE IT!!!

I LOVE your dress. I love it so much that it was the one that I ordered too. I got the Capri Marie though. It has the straight neckline not the sweetheart one. It is a gorgeous dress. I had looked for months and when I put it on I knew I was leaving the store with it. (Well kinda) It should be in around Christmas and I cannot wait to get pictures of me in on here too. You look fabulous!

I forgot to mention something. I took pictures and fabric swatches of my dress to the various florists I was meeting with earlier this month. Each one of them said the dress "stunning" "amamzing" "gorgeous" "beautiful" The one even asked me who was making it and didn't beleive it wasn't custom designed and made just for me. I know at least one of these florists personnally and they are not the type to just randomly compliemnt a bride to make her happy. Several of them will turn you away if they don't like your design ideas.

I didn't even know what one was until you put the picture on this thread....I didn't really know the styles....I got a nice dress but now I hate it and want a pin tuck dress :(

Kikki, that dress is da(MN) beautiful....excellent choice. I can't remember who posted the other one but where can you get it and how much??? My gramma bought my dress for me, so I really can't get a new one, but if I get it cheap, then I could sell my other one and just surprise her on the wedding day :D

That dress I posted was from E-bay. There's this company called Blue Catalog that was selling the dress @ $160.00 and they custom make it to fit your body. I don't trust E-bay so I didn't buy it but I went to a bridal shop and they told me that it wouldn't look that good on me cause it's too much dress for me. I'm a size 1 and I think a size 4 in wedding gowns. So I had to kinda suck it up and not get the dress. The Christina Wu is gorgeous but no bridal shop here in Jacksonville, Fl seems to carry it. I'd have to go to Orlando to even find it or try it on. That was very frustrating, but today I went to another bridal shop and found a dress I fell in love with. It's a Casablanca #1785 in Champagne. I LOOOOVE it.
I forgot to mention that the dress cost $160.00 because it's a Demetrios duplicate. The Maggie Sottero is pretty reasonable so can also check out her website for prices.

Hi Kikki, unfortunately I had no luck with either one of those dresses. I found another that I like and it looks gorgeous. I have a fitting tomorrow at the bridal shop. I'll try to remember my ***era when I go. It's almost like the CW but with more beading and less poofiness. Here's what it looks like, but this model makes it look ugly (and what's up with her hair..lol). It looks way more beautiful in person with the beads and crystals shining. I can't wait to take pics of the real thing but here goes.

I also saw this bracelet that would go great with that dress, hopefully I do not forget to pick it up. I almost walked out the bridal store because I couldn't find my CW when the lady called me back to ask me a question and I saw that dress from the corner of my eye. I'm so glad I went back.

My FH has seen the dress, when we were looking on Ebay we seen it and KNEW it was THE one! I was a skeptic until I got it and tried it on, I am so in love with it. For my first wedding I did the "traditional" dress, but I love this one more because it is unique. Its a Deep purple. The cool thing about that dress maker is I could have had it in any color but since purple is my fav. color I got it. We bought it at the beginning of May and received it before the end of may not to bad for custom made.

I have almost the same dress (Capri Marie) and I spent $850 on it at a salon. I too decided that unless there was a dress that I has to have I was topping out at $1000. I mean the wedding dress important. And believe me I have no qualms about spending money on clothes. But it is only going to be worn once.

Below is the link to my dress. I found a dress that I fell in love with but it was $5K there is no way in the world I will spend that much money on a dress. I don't even have a daughter to pass the dress down too. I have 1 son - tubial so no chances of having another one and my son's wife will want her own dress you know that. She would not want a hammy down dress for her wedding. So, I found another dress that I could like with for about $800.00 w/taxes.

No when you all open the dress I did not want the dress becasue my arms are too big in my mind anyway; but my mom and niece thinks I'm crazy. I went last wk to try it on and my niece & mom thinks it gorgeous on me. My mom as even she would look good in that dress and I will wear it without the shawl down the aisle. Let me know if you all like it. My dress will be ivory & silver.

Its a beautiful dress! I have the "arm issue" as well - I'm considering having sleeves added to my dress. I played around with some material with my dress and I think it would look great with sleeves. I understand with yours that you don't really have that option, but maybe long gloves?

Below is the link to my dress. I found a dress that I fell in love with but it was $5K there is no way in the world I will spend that much money on a dress. That dress is very pretty. So, your arms are, shall we say, less than stick thin. I have an arm issue too. Let me tell you, 30-45 minutes of cardio a day (and maybe some weight trainng if you can find a good trainer) and within 2 weeks you will see great results. Besides I have seen many brides with arm issues in strapless dresses, never once did I notice their arms. I noticed how beautiful and happy they were.

UGLY!! no way!!

I just bought the Caprimarie dress which is HORRIBLY the same as the Capri dress! The only reason I didn't go with the Capri one is that I don't have the .. .umm.. breast.. to fill a dress like properly.. so I went with her sister gown!

Ugly my behind! when my mom saw it she started crying!! and this was after trying on about 100 other dresses!!!
No worries hun!!

Our dresses will look amazing on our big day and our guy's will be flustered by us :p

I personally think you made an amazing choice! :D

I have no pictures of me in the dress - yet - I didn't want pictures of me in any wedding dress unless it was the one I was going down the "aisle" with. lol I will be taking pictures of me in it the day MY dress gets sent to the shop! lol and that wont be till uhh. Jan. seeing as I JUST bought it 2 sat. ago :p ..
I am finding it hard though to not keep going back to the shop and trying on the dress again! Is anyone else having this problem? lol .. after trying on dresses for 2 months and FINALLY finding that one dress that I thought was puuuurfect.. makes it hard to not keep going back to it and drooling over it.

For a while there.. I was thinking I would never find "the" dress.. I thought maybe I was just.. too.. picky

Hey,
I really like your gown. In fact, I think it looks better on you than on the model. (I saw it on your Journal thingie)
It's cute, and you look great in it.
Plus it's what you like, not what everyone else likes....go Bridezilla about your dress...It's your day! :D
