Ok, I know this has been talked about before but I'm not sure where. I know that its not required to wear a veil but what are other options if one is not worn. My dress is still being made and my weddings a month from today so I need to start thinking about this before my dress is even finished. The dress has a very low back and the thin straps cross across my back so if I wore a fingertip length veil would the back of the dress be hidden? I'm not a huge fan of the veil that is sholder lenght and I dont want the back of the dress to be hidden so I'm not sure what I could or should do. Is it weird not to wear a veil? I would love some ideas or input. Thanks

You don't have to wear a veil. I'm not wearing one - mainly because I don't want the back of my dress to be covered up.

no veil for me either... I ordered some great hair jewelry though... gorgeous rhinestone pins. I'll probably be getting some pearl pins too.

I don't know why I don't want a veil. I just never pictured myself wearing one.

I too am not a huge fan of the veil, but FI wants me to look like a "real bride", he even wants me to wear it over my face! I'm not sure if I will do that, but to compromise I will wear a veil during the ceremony and then take it off for the reception. You could also do hairpins or tiaras. They look fine with no veil.

I already had decided that the veil would come off after the ceramony and a few pictures and that it would never cover my face. Thanks for the input so far its making me feel more comfortable with maybe not having a veil. I should also add that my mom wanted my something old to be her veil which my one aunt wore as well. She told me I could change it however I wanted so I have so many options and I'm just not sure

I won't be wearing a veil. At first I wanted one, but I've changed my mind.

I am going to wear a flower in my hair behind my ear. Also, I may wear a tiara or some other sort of hair jewelry.

You could also do a really thin veil - the sheerest fabric at only one layer.

Edit: also, you can show off your back at the reception, where you won't be wearing a veil.

Can you show us what your dress kind of looks like? If it is what I'm thinking, you really don't want to wear a veil.

I tried the dress on the other day at the dress makers. My worst fear ***e true, I did not like it and I could not say it to her face. I've called her to discuss our options and I have not heard back. The weddings in 25 days so I'm gonna have to learn to like it. The dress can be fixed, not to what I wanted but I think it will be close enough that I will not mind.
Anyhow when I tried it on I really did not feel like a bride so I think a veil will really finish it off, however I'm not sure what would look best. Any ideas??

Oh no! Are you going to be able to get it fixed?

I'm sure a veil will definately help you feel more bridelike. But truly, just make sure that whatever you do, you feel beautiful.

I just got off the phone with the woman whos making my dress. I love the bottom of the dress and the back just the top is lumpy. I think she agrees with me that it needs a little work and I just hope she can figgure out a way to fix it so I'm happy.

I feel so sorry for you, Sandstar.
I also had my dress made. Love the bottom and back but the front upper
part has some minor flaws... at least my dress-maker is willing to try her
best to get it fixed the way I like it. She is working on it as I type and
hopefully I'll get it back later today or 2morrow. I really hope you can
get this fixed :)

I'm sorry about your dress. I hope that it works out...has to be better than the girl on bridezilla who's train was cut off when the dress was altered. As for the veil, I am wearing one and I also have a dress with a back that is meant to be seen. I am not planning to wear my veil during the reception. I think it's the best compromise between wearing a veil and showing off the back of my dress...I'm not wearing a blusher though.

I tried on both a cathedral length and fingertip veil (layered) with my dress and they didn't obscure the back at all. I'm not a veil person, and my mother hated hers so much, she tore it off on the way down the aisle after the ceremony.

I almost wore a tiara, but forgot to get it from the person who was loaning it to me and didn't tell my hairdresser (her daughter) to bring it when she ***e.

I just had my hair up and I think it looked great like that... no fancy pins or anything... then again I put my hair in a ponytail a couple times a year and wear makeup even less, so... I guess that was special enough for me :o
